How Do I Use Autofill With Voiceover and Safari 11?

macOS & Mac Apps

Hi, all. I've just started using the Mac again after a few years. My sister gave me a late 2009 Mac Mini. I have El capitan and Safari 11.1 on it. It's really fun to see the changes that have happened with Safari, including navigation with the arrow keys. However, it seems the bugaboo with autofill in Safari has reared its ugly head. I'd forgotten about it. I was able to access it once by doing a VO-mouse-click in a form field, but can't seem to replicate the process. Is Chrome a better bet these days, or am I missing something? My next step will be to call Apple Accessibility support, since I've always had good experience with them. Thanks in advance for any pointers.

Hi; following up on my own post, but thought this might be useful. If I tab around the input fields a bit till I hear the popup sound, then pressing on the field with VO-mouse-click seems to bring up the autofill options. If anyone knows of a method that's a bit quicker, let me know. However, this is quite doable. Thanks.

Hi Teresa,
Sorry to take so long to answer your question...
I asked something similar here recently and some very bright people advised me that it is not a bug and that there are two very simple methods to activate Auto Fill in Safari on the Mac.
1. Command Shift A will enable the Auto Fill feature .
2. Accessing the Menu Bar, find Edit and arrowing down to Auto Fill.

Thanks so much! I knew when googling and not seeing a lot of complaints since 2014 or so that there had to be a simple solution. I'll try edit menu and the keystroke. Much appreciated.

Hi. I'm glad I decided to go onto the site this morning to find this post. I will try these methods. So far I have noticed that a message says to hit DownArrow and Enter. I try that, and it does not work.
