How do I update macOS?

Hello! How do I upgrade my operating system on my mac book air running curently el capitan os 10? I have looked through system preferences and I can't find the update button for operating systems. I also looked through the app store but no results. I want to upgrade to mojave os. help please!

If your MacBook Air meets the system requirements, you should be able to search the AppStore for something like, "Mojave," and then download and install it.
