A good anti virus program for the Mac?

By Usman, 24 November, 2013

Hey all, After looking through all the mac aps, I couldn't find a single anti virus program. Unless I missed it somehow, there didn't appear to be one. What are some anti virus programs that you would recommend which are voice over friendly? Thanks

It's fairly difficult to get a virus on a Mac. That could be why you're not finding anything. I've never downloaded antivirus software, except for on my PC. Even if a virus gets on your Mac, they just stay dormant and don't even activate, Unless you tell your Mac that you want it activated.

Thre's at least one antivirus program.

Hello. Though I was not worried to much about the viruses on the Mac end of things, having had quite a few in my pc days, I did find virus barrier express. It's free. I had at one point, seen something about a pro option, and I would've upgraded, it's that good. It's all accessible. There's a link that says follow lin, all this does is update the deffinitions. You can do a light full or quick scan. I always do full. I haven't customized it yet, so I can't speak on that end of it. Search the app store for virus barrier express. If the pro version comes up, please tell me so I can look at it, before you go putting down money for this. I just want to be sure you're happy with the product and there's no reason to switch to a paid version if one free exists. :)

I've used ClamXav and the only virus it has ever picked up is one from some old windows email that I imp[orted from an xp machine. It is simple to use but it does work and they update it pretty often. They will ask for donations but it is free to use but its always good to help out the author. Jim
