Assistance with the Mac.

macOS and Mac Apps

Hello all,

I am wondering if there is anyone who can assist me with a problem I am having with the Mac. I am running latest version of Catalina as I was advised when being assisted by apple support recently not to do the big sir update yet.

I had to re install my Mac a couple of weeks a go due to a booting up miss function when doing an update. When I did the re install I noticed that when in the home folder I only had certain folders showing up as follows.

downloads

movies

music

pictures

public

My other folders such as applications for example I can get two by pressing the keystroke however though folders such as documents, applications, library etc no longer appear in my home folder as they did before.

is there anyway of making this happen and if so how do I go about doing it. I have looked in the finder preferences but not been able to find a way of doing this.

I am totally blind and a VoiceOver user.

thanks very much for any help.

Best wishes.

the applications folder…

the applications folder within the Home folder will be created if you install apps specifically to your account through Chrome or another system utility. If you want to create a shortcut to your actual applications folder, you can create an alias and have it live in your Home folder. Alternatively, Command-Shift-A takes you to your folder of applications.

Your documents folder is now stored in iCloud which you can get to with Command-Shift-O. You may see a folder in here with an archive of your documents from your local machine, but you will be looking at an iCloud folder if you've got an Apple ID linked to your login account.

Command-Shift-H takes you back to your home folder.

Hope this is helpful.
