annoying Voiceover PDF bug fixed in OS X update

Since the release of OS X Lion, Voiceover has had a nagging bug that caused it to not read the text of PDF documents completely. For example, it might say the first letter of a word by itself, then say the rest of the word separately. This provided for a very inconvenient reading experience. Finally, after twenty-two months, Apple fixed this issue with the OS X 10.8.4 update. For Mountain Lion Voiceover users, I would say this is a worthy update, restoring an expectation of quality ignored for almost two years. For Lion users, upgrading to Mountain Lion just to have this issue fixed might not be a necessity since there are other alternatives.
