So, I have been using Microsoft teams on the Mac for quite a while. As far as activities, I have ignored groups. However, I have read That for apps like Microsoft teams, it is easier to go back to the normal grouping behavior, standard. Why does this make it easier to use teams, Iām asking, because I have noticed that using teams with ignore groups is... kind of a pain in the neck. If I switch back to standard for teams, what should I be aware of? How will it make things easier and smoother compared to ignore groups?

Using Teams
I haven't tried standard grouping for teams - I am using ignore groups. I tend to find that in Teams it works best if you avoid using VO navigation as much as possible and pretend its a Windows app. So arrows and tab/shift+tab to move around, and look at the keyboard shortcuts. I'm not sure if this would be affected by grouping.
Re: Teams and VO commands.
It's funny you say that, because I find the easiest way to get to the chats table is to hit VO-home from a typing field, and then VO-right until you get to the chats table. The most annoying thing I run into is the popup with options to start a call or view a profile or whatever if you have somebody picked for a chat, the only way I can find to get rid of it is to hit escape and then cmd-r very quickly to get to a typing field, if you don't hit it quickly enough it pops right back up again.
Re: VO or not VO
I tend to get really lost and then everything slows to a halt if I use VO commands. To get to the chat list I use Ctrl+Shift+2 (this is the web app, it is Cmd+2 in the normal app). Then I can use up and down arrows on the chats. Once I'm in the message box I use Shift+Tab to get to the messages then up and down to view them. I usually find if I try to navigate messages with VO keys things get a bit messy and slow.
Having said that, I am quite lazy about learning shortcuts. So I use navigate to text field to jump to the message box. To start a call I use VO+F, type in "Audio Call" and go from there. I do sometimes have to fight with the focus which I usually put down to me cheating with the VO keys.
I find the main app is always stealing focus when in other apps so I tend to steer clear of it. However, if I need to answer a call it works better than the web app.
