By Applerocks, 20 September, 2023 Forum iOS and iPadOS What does every one think of elaquence in ios 17? Options Log in or register to post comments Comments Lisping The higher sample rate option still has a severe lisp. I don't use this voice daily, but it's really annoying! The only alternative is to use the lower quality version. I haven't used Eloquence … I haven't used Eloquence for years, but yeah, that lisping is annoying and weird. I wonder if Fred would do that if they tried to increase the sample rate. Eloquence isn't suppose to lisp, even with a higher sample rate, so no idea what they did to it. Opinion Longer pauses compared with other voices like Alex, severe Lisping or toothlessness with the higher sample rate, lower volume of the lower sample rate, and the use of a Community Dictionary which is at least 6 months old - a version which was never updated during the iOS 17 beta cycle. In short: bad, disappointing, and discouraging. I just wish they would take the time to fix it I completely agree with what others have said here. I was looking at Mastodon yesterday, and I know that people who work with this stuff at Apple are aware of the issues with the higher sample rate version. It was pointed out to them that it sounds like only part of the speech signal got the higher quality, and I think I agree with this. I was very excited when I first heard that we were actually getting it, and I really wanted to like it, but I just can't, not the way it sounds right now. I'll only say this one more time and then I'll stop but it's very good sounding on android, and I absolutely love reading with it there. I unfortunately can not say the same about the version on iOS. Hello, The Higher Sample… Hello, The Higher Sample Rate is weird indeed. I have actually sent Apple feedback with an audio clip of how the Android Eloquence sounded as 11kHz when it was still officially available. Here's hoping that'll be fixed. I would love the higher sample rate especially on my iPhone. - Kon It's terrible! I'm glad I don't use Eloquence because I already can't stand to listen to it. Eloquence is horrible I used to using eloquence on iOS 16, but on this iOS 17 I am back using alex ☺️ The library was changed They updated the Eloquence library to add all the new toggles. In general, I like the per-voice settings, however I wish that both Higher Sample Rate and Abbreviation Dictionary were off by default. At least in Finnish which is my native language. Community Dictionary is not even present in Finnish but that's because Finnish doesn't have one. One thing I hope they add soon is per-voice settings to the Watch. Now that Eloquence is on Watch the waiting time could be shorter than a year which it took for Eloquence to transfer from iPhone to the Watch. Open-Mindedness is the Key... Hi. I still have my iPhone 7 so am therefore unable to take advantage of these new features. That said, I did listen to the great demonstration done by Anonymouse and Eloquence with the new effects sounded extremely impressive. Let's hope that I can actually get my hands on one of the newer iPhones. I for one though, am keeping an open mind. Eloquence on Mac OS Ventura is good enough for me, but I am very pumped to take advantage of the new features of iOS and Mac OS Sonoma. love the community dictionary Love the community dictionary just wish it would be updated. I also wish they would fix the missing front teeth issue on high sample rate. If they don't by Christmas I think I will send a screen recording with my bad singing all I want for Christmas is my two front teeth lol. Did not care Tried it and did not care. I will keep using Tom. it needs some dentures. it needs some dentures. Can someone explain how the Community Dictionary Works? I understand the community dictionary option in principle, but I've never seen the details actually explained anywhere. Who is the so-called community? Us? If so, as members of the community, how do we add updates to the community dictionary? If I add a pronunciation under VoiceOver Speech settings, I'm guessing that doesn't get included in the community dictionary, right? Is there an option somewhere in the UI that I'm missing or what? Thanks, --Al I'm not impressed. I much prefered the talks version. Maybe it was cause back then speakers on phones weren't that good but this version just sounds... off. No Used it only once and did not care. Eloquence is awesome It is awesome especially with the community dictionary I only wish they would fix the missing front teeth with high sample rate. Here's another issue apart from the ones mentioned already The misnamed Sandy sounds like she has throat cancer.
