Weather Gods 2.2

iOS & iPadOS

Hi Everybody,

Just a quick post to say that Weather Gods 2.2 will be hitting the App Store today.

The main changes are bug fixes, especially around iOS13, localising warning information and the Siri Watch Face.

I'm still working on porting Weather Gods to the Mac - it's a slow process, also being found by other developers as well.

As ever, if you're enjoying Weather Gods but haven't left a review on the App Store then we would love to hear your feedback please. There is a direct link in Weather Gods settings.

Hope everybody is having a great weekend!

Hi Holger,

Good question. Haven't had any reports of problems with watchOS6, although I don't run it myself currently.

Submitted by Holger Fiallo on Saturday, September 7, 2019

Well when it comes up I am planning to check in my watch 3. Since the watch apps are going to be download via the watch and not the watch, are you planning to make it more focus on the watch? I know you are working to make sure it works for the Mac.

Yep, planning to add more stuff to the watch once the Mac port is out of the way.

One of our beta testers suggested streaming the weather sounds to the watch using the new streaming api. I'd like to explore that.

Also, bringing weather alerts to the watch as well.

while I don't have a mac, I'd like 2 get one. Once I get a mac, this will be 1 of the 1st apps I grab!
I cannot wait for Ios. 13, although I think I'll take Thomas's advice from the latest unleashed podcast & wait until 13.1 at least. I can not wait to see whaj's next for Weajher gods! Enjoy your app as always!

Maybe in the future WG could also be for Windows 10? It will be perfect and Bella would like it.

maybe android as well
I have some family/friends who run android & I have wished I could recommend this app to!

Not sure if anyone else has encountered this, but when I've opened the app today, nothing loads.

I hear the sounds when the app first opens, but then nothing, no data, no background sound, and I am running v2.2.

I plan on trying again later in the day, perhaps the app is just having issues getting the data for my region.

Hi Blinken223,

Not aware of any issues.

We have monitors throughout the world which poll the weather data every couple of minutes and everything is green.

The main cause of data loading issues is if the location is a GPS location then sometimes the Apple GPS lookup service fails.

Otherwise, you get the WG data loading error messages.

Might be worth checking if the widget is working (if you have our widget) or the Apple Watch WG if you have that one.

Otherwise, I would suggest a restart of the app (force quit) or the phone when convenient.

Good luck

I opened the app on my Apple Watch via the complication, shut it completely down and reopened it, then opened it on my iPhone and all seems fine now.

I figured it was progbably something on my end causing the issue.

This is the reason I got the app. ASAP respond by Scott. How many developers do so? I am sure not to many. Now if only the app can be also be call (Bella the cat), she be happy.

Thanks Holger,

I try to respond in a timely manner - but sometimes the UK timezone works against me.

Also, Tuesdays and Wednesdays are my days in the office with my client who pays my bills, so I have less time to respond.

With regards to watchOS6, I installed yesterday on my watch, and so far haven't found any problems with WG. I only have the series 2 though, so haven't been able to test any of the new faces.

Hope it will come out next week and I will download it and test it. I am planning to get the watch 5 next year and I know it will work well with WG.

Hey Scott When is the update to WG AKA Bella the cat coming out? Hope things are OK. Also hope you were able to fix the issues in Series 5 and OS 6.1

Hi Holger,

Still plodding along. Have parked the Mac port for now as some of the 3rd party libraries I use don't support the Mac (yet).

The focus at the moment is on Siri Shortcuts - I have re-worked the existing for iOS13 so now you can specify location as well as current location. You can also get weekly and weekend weather. I plan to add moon info very shortly.

I have been bug fixing - iOS13 / watch OS6 broke a few things - but still a few more bugs to shake out.

Aiming for an update early December and then I'm taking a break!

Thank you once again for all your hard work on this app. For those who haven't tried it out yet but want to, I cannot recommend WG enough.

Submitted by Holger Fiallo on Friday, November 8, 2019

I mention this app on the youtube on those videos that talk about must app you need to have. This is the best app and have no problem mention it when I see a video that focusses on apps for the iPhone.

Also loving weather gods. Tempted to actually uninstall all of my other weber apps.

Submitted by Holger Fiallo on Friday, November 8, 2019

I do not even use any other. I have to use the one in my Series 5 because in the Mickey Mouse which is fix, WG does not show up. Can not wait until December. Bella the cat also is interested.

Widgets. Are you planning to ad widgets for iOS 14? I am not interest in using weather in my widget. I am not able to find it to ad widget to my home page.

Submitted by Weather Gods (Scott) on Monday, September 21, 2020

Hi Holger,

I do plan to but currently my focus is on migrating to the new weather provider which is consuming all my time.

I'm thinking of adding two widgets based on the watch complications

1. Smart weather widget
2. Weather highlights

With the ability to support multiple places. However, that might be part of a future subscription option due to the additional data costs of having multiple widgets updating data every 30 minutes or so.

Using Series 5, current OS. On GMT face, instead of giving the temperature, I get precipitation. Check setting but does not have temperature.

I c'tleavefeedback anywhere but here due to that. At first settings shows, but I can't open it, and they everything crashes except the sound. I'm using an 8+ with the current IOS update.
