Voiceover falls silent on iPhone 7 running iOS13.2.2

iOS and iPadOS

My blind sister decided to take the plunge and bought a previously owned iPhone 7 32GB to see how she got on with it. She's not very techy minded unlike me. I have been setting it up for her without any issues, but I've noticed VO falls silent, mostly when in edit fields but also at other times. The only way to get VO back is to lock the iPhone, then unlock it, lock it, unlock it, then it seems ok for some time but inevitably falls silent again later on and I have to go through the lock/unlock/lock/unlock process again. Has anyone else had this, and if so how did you fix it please? I've tried using different voices but it makes no difference. Thanks in advance, kind regards to all
