Using Microsoft Authenticator with Voiceover?

iOS and iPadOS

Hello,
I'm a visually impaired college student, studying Computer Science.
I figured that with the recent rise in online accounts being hacked, there's no better time than now, for me to start securing mine, with 2-factor authentication.

I've chosen Microsoft Authenticcator as my app for storing & generating these codes.
I understand that 1password which I use to store my passwords, can also be used for this, but don't know how.

I have a few questions regarding Microsoft Authenticator.
1. It never sends me notifications, despite me allowing them.
2. What's the best way to get & enter the code within the allottedtime of 30 seconds, when using voiceover?
Thanks in advance.

Hi, Tried this and find it is impossible with VO. Simply you don't have time to do this unless someone else can point out a way of doing this.

Using Microsoft Authenticator for IOS, when you flick to a code, VoiceOver will announce the 6 number code, then VoiceOver will announce how many seconds until the code expires, then VoiceOver will announce "double tap to copy code'. The way I enter codes is, flick to the code in the app and wait while it counts down, then when it starts over at 30 seconds, double tap so the code saved to your clipboard, and go to the edit or search box and flick to edit on the rotor, then flick down and paste it in

Brilliant! That worked.

Hello,
Thank you so much for that!
It worked.
I was originally trying to use the 4-finger gesture to copy the code, go to the app I wanted it in, & use the rotor to paste.
However, that didn't work.
Thanks again for your suggestion.

I hope this isn't a dumb question, but are these authenticator apps still needed now that iOS has it built in?

I guess if you're still running an older version of iOS you would need it, but apparently it's built into the operating system now.

I'm not brave enough to try these things out in case something breaks and I'm locked out of what ever service I'm trying to access.

Maybe one day, when these things are actually stable.

Universal copy and paste, and there's a built-in authenticator?

I use Microsoft Authenticator and almost always want the code on my Mac. So don't forget if you copy it as mentioned above, then you can paste it straight into the Mac if hand-off is enabled. It's incredibly useful.

I find the Microsoft app works really well for me. The time left is usually totally inaccurate, but maybe my speech rate is too slow.

I had no idea that there was a similar app built into iOS these days. I'm not sure I can be bothered to move to it, but would be curious to know where it is?

It's in settings, under password.

I've only briefly glanced at it, because I really don't know what I'm doing with this sort of thing.

What’s it called?

Hi,
What's this feature called?
I had no idea it existed natively.

Back to the topic of Microsoft authenticator, why won't the app send me notifications, despite me having the setting enabled?
