I currently have the iPhone 15 base model and have had it for almost two years. I used to be the type that would run it into the ground before replacing it (I remember getting 3.5 years out of the good old iPhone 6), but now, with the extent to which I use my phone, I don't really care to watch it deteriorate.
That being said, I'm thinking of upgrading my phone later this year. I always do the trade in, which makes it a bit cheaper. I've been going back and forth between the 16 and the 17 base models. I usually get whatever the latest and greatest phone is, especially since the 16 would already be a year old, but I could get it for 100 dollars cheaper I believe.
I also know the iPhone 17 is supposed to have a better camera, I'm not sure if this would be helpful for services like Aira or Be My Eyes, maybe they can see more clearly?
Anyway, leaning towards the 17 but just want to hear from you all who have upgraded your phones or plan to later this year and hear your thoughts!

I just got my base model iPhone 15 in August and I love it. If I were going to upgrade right now though probably I would go with a 17. I’m thinking of 17 so that you could possibly get more software updates out of it as it is the newest phone right now. That may future approve you more than getting a 16 but I’m not totally sure on that. I’m just guessing as it’s the newest phone at this point. As long as money isn’t a big object for you I might go with a 17 if I were going to upgrade. I’ve always gotten the base model phones. I’ve never seen the need for a pro for my use case. I hope that’s helpful. My iPhone 15 is the pink 256 gig model variant. Oh I’m sorry. My phone is the pink 512 gig variant. I get confused because my secondary phone is a 256 gig iPhone SE third generation in product red. I can’t believe any of the new phones don’t come in pink or product red. To me that’s sad even though I’ve never seen any of those colors in my life. I have been totally blind since birth so that means I’m a full-time voiceover user. I also don’t want any phone to be any bigger than what I currently own. I think the only way to keep that happening is to keep sticking with base model iPhones for me. I do hope we get some more pink phones in the future though. Red ones too. A pink would be ideal. I have a clear case from Apple for my iPhone 15. I also have the clear case for my iPhone SE. I want people to be able to see the pink on my iPhone 15 and the right of my iPhone SE.
