Tv on an iDevice

So I'm looking at purchasing a tv plan from either direct tv or dish. Which one, from an accessibility standpoint should I get? I would like to have a way to schedule recordings on some DVR receivers, weather from the web or an app, the ability to view tv guide from web or guide, etcetera. I know direct tv's app is supposed to be good, but have no real experience. Since some of you no doubt have TV in the US, can you spill the secret on how you manage it? Can you schedule, view, and delete recordings on DVR? reliably browse the tv guide? Thanks in advance, Tj

Tv on an iDevice

Hi Tj, I have Dish, and the Dish app on my iPhone 4S. I also have the Sling Box that allows me to watch Tv on the phone. I can also set up, delete, schedule, and watch recordings on the phone as well. You can also see what's on a particular channel for today, later, and currently. Any other questions, feel free to ask. Shane.

Thanks

Hi, Give Dish a call and they should be able to tell you. Think mine was $25 onetime fee.

Many thanks again

I have done my research on that, however, before I make my decision, any one on the direct tv side of things willing to share their experiences?

I spoke with direct tv about a month ago and was told that tv on the phone was still quite limited. it's only a few channels offered not their entire line-up. I use a sling box and can get all of the channels I subscribe to with Direct on my phone. sling boxes are available through sling media.com or you can get them at Best buy in the US. I've been using my sling box for 3 years now and love it. I don't have a DVR so can't comment on the recording and DVR side of things. The sling player app for the IPhone is very accessible for the most part. you can set favorites and then go through them and it tells you what's on during that time slot. Works well.
