Is there a Notes App that can convert what I dictate into Voiceover into text?

iOS & iPadOS

Is there a Notes App that can convert speech into text using Voiceover on my iPhone/iPad?
Thank you!

Do you mean after you speak, text is written on the screen? If you do, that's already possible with any app you dictate into. If there's something else i'm missing, try and help. :)

It works pretty much anywhere there's a text field. It's in the lower right on the iOS keyboard on iPhone. So basically you can pop open the notes or pages app and start dictating there. Double tap the button with one finger to start, say what you want (you can include punctuation) and then double tap with two fingers to stop dictating. It's not perfect. Gboard is a little better, but you'll have to manually correct a few errors, no matter which service you use.

As others said, you can simply dictate into the phone after activating any edit box with a single finger double tap when Voiceover is running. To start the dictation either activate the Dictation button on the keyboard or perform a two finger double tap to start and stop dictation.

If you want to convert an audio file to text use something like the Otter Voice Meeting Notes app. This takes an audio file or recording and converts it to a text format. The first 600 minutes per month are free but if you want more you need a subscription.

It is also possible to create a shortcut to dictate a new note or add to one though the set up would be a little involved. As others have suggested, I'd just use dictation. It's pretty good on iphone, much better than on mac.

Thanks everyone for your advise. Extremely helpful. Once I have played about a bit, I may have more questions!
Meanwhile, it would be good to know how to set up the shortcut?

I think the shortcut should address what you’re looking for. You can dictate and it will automatically create a note.
