stereo recording apps

iOS and iPadOS

Since I remember that at wwdc, there was mention of stereo recording in iOS 14.
does anyone know the recording and editing apps that are adding this capability?
Apps like Dolbe En, voice memos, Audioshare, Bakpack studio, twistedwave, ferrite.

Hi. Not sure if this is any help or not, but just press record and quick record record in stereo as far as I’m aware, and if you have an Apple Watch, just press record is definitely want to go for as There is an Apple Watch app which is really quick and convenient to use. I’ve recorded a fair bit of stuff from festivals that I’ve either attended or been a part of.

I've heard stereo recordings on iPhones before now, mainly from apps like WhatsApp, Vorail, etc. I believe in all cases external mics were used, as the iPhone's mics are mono as far as I know.

Like Burak, I heard and subsequently confirmed that Ferrite does indeed support making stereo recordings using the iPhone's internal stereo microphones in iOS 14.

do not use just press recorfd anymore. I never loved the iOs app as you lose all speach when you hit record, sound volume goes to 0 until you double tap with two fingers to sotp then sound returns.

Alon Dictaphone will soon have stereo recording. I’m currently beta testing an up-coming version, which is 2.3.5. it’s currently in beta, but once it’s released to the appstore, you can record in stereo using the internal mics on your iPhone.

Another app to add to the list is RecorderHQ Pro. they have now added stereo recording support. works very well. along with Alon Dictaphone, ferrite and just press record, that makes 4 apps. Audio Memos hasn't added the feature yet.

Yes, you're right. only third party apps. I hope other third party apps will add this functionality in the near future.

I am a beginner ifone user.
I was using android for the last 8 years but the reason that convinced me to finally make the swich is stereo recording.
I like making recordings especially general ambient sounds and nature.
I am using an ifone xs.
As far as I know all apps that support stereo recording are not free, that's why I didn't try any yet, but when I add my card, a recording app will be the first thing I will buy.

Can we specify in the settings which microphones will be used on the recording?
I read something about orientation.
So do the microphones used change depending on the way we are holding the phone?
I assume portrait is the best position because we will get the widest stereo possible.
So if you could give me more information it would be very helpful.
