I use the Moneyreader app (by looktell) I noticed when looking at my purchases that this app is no longer in the app store. What are people using now?

Agreed. I misspoke in my previous post. Cash Reader does the ticket. Alas, you have to decide which currencies you want it to recognize instead of having it recognize all currencies the way Money Reader used to do.
I was a bit worried about losing the money reader app, but Cash reader is a pretty good alternative. I love it! Alternatively, you could use Seeing AI if you're not interested in paying for the full version.
Microsoft app goes works well and is a multy purpose app that you can use. You do not need so many apps now. The only thing it does not is check on my cat Bella.
I can echo what others are saying about Seeing AI. It's a great free alternative to Money Reader since the alternative Cash Reader is now a paid app. The only thing that takes getting use to is Seeing AI will not repeat the bill being identified. If you want to be sure the bill you have is what you heard move it away from the camera and back into view. The currency will then be repeated again. It takes getting use to since Money Reader use to repeat the bill being identified until you take it out of view. Otherwise Seeing AI is a great free alternative.

Replacement for Money Reader
The replacement for Money Reader is something called Cash Manager. It is not free, but it works very quickly and well.
