Podcast clients

iOS and iPadOS

Hello everyone,
On Monday I hope to be going to get a new iPhone 6+ and I had some questions on podcast clients. I am looking for one that does the following:
1. Does not automatically download new episodes.
2. Deletes episodes after listening to them.
3. Allows to stream the podcast instead of downloading it if I want to.
4. Allows me to subscribe to password protected podcast.

Thanks,
Greg Wocher

Sounds like Downcast is It

It sounds like the Downcast app will fit the bill well. It does everything you want, though I can't be certain that it handles password-protected feeds. I think it does, but I've never had to try that.

Overcast may also do the job, and I've heard good things about it. However, I have not tried that app because Downcast meets my needs quite well. I'd suggest investigating both and seeing which you like better, though. Both are fully accessible, and each has its pros and cons.

The iCatcher app will do everything you are looking for. I like it better than any other I have tried. The developer is quick to respond to any issues, and is consistently updating the app. It's worth a look.

How about Podcasts, Apple's native podcast client?

Works for me.

Downcast or Apple Podcast app

A friend tried to convince me for about a year that I should try the downcast app. I had been using Apple's podcast app and was quite happy with it, so I didn't see the need to change.

On his insistence, I finally grabbed the Downcast app and am sorry I waited so long. It is a very clean and useable app with lots of customizations that are easy to implrement and find. I particularly like the ability to create playlist from my podcast.

downcast is worth checking out - Also very easy to use with VoiceOver.

Downcast, all the way no question!

I've tried other podcast apps for sure, but time and time again I keep coming back to downcast. It just works. and yes, it does absolutely handle password-protected podcasts, I have one I'm subscribed to right now and it works beautifully.

Would you make a comparison please?

Hello all.
Speaking about podcast clients, would anyone please give a brief comparison between Downcast and podcast that is preinstalled on latest IOS? What one can do and other can't?
Thanks in advance.
