Do you already own the app or are you still deciding whether to buy it? If the former, are there specific areas of the app that you need explained? If the latter, it might help if you give us a clearer idea of what you want the app to do. Depending upon your answer, it might be that another app is better suited. Or, of course, Navigon might still be the best option, as it is probably the most accessible of the full-featured GPS routing apps.

thank you yes I have the app, well I have put in my home road, it is the british isles for Ireland, I have done one rout but it just told me when to turn but not what road or junction I was coming to. If there is a better app let me know.

The app is pretty self-explanatory. You enter addresses backwards from state, city, street, then number. I love the app!

It is a great app when it doesn't try to walk you onto express ways. Maybe I didn't have it in pedestrian mode like I thought, either that or my phone hates me.

Navigon doesn't announce intersections, which is probably what you were wanting. One solution is to run it in conjunction with BlindSquare, which will give you additional feedback on your surroundings. Another solution will be Sendero's Seeing Eye app. It's not available yet, though, and will only be available in North America when first released.
