language tutor apps

iOS and iPadOS

Recently I have been on the hunt for apps that offer language tutoring. I have tried Verbling and Italki. They were not even close to being accessible. Does anyone have any ideas of where to find accessible language tutors? thanks.

hi. i use duolingo to learn french from english.
it is very accessible, but not 100 pct.
so maybe a sightd person can help you understand the layout of the first few lessons.
it's free too if you accept the ads!

What about the one apple created in iOS 14? Did you check that to see if you like it?

Certain parts of duolingo require using the keyboard to write. How have you managed this, if I may ask?

For english, it's easy. Just use the keyboard. For the other language, there are a few things that I've done. Keep in mind this is German, so your milage may vary. Sometimes you can type the accented characters in English, e.g. sharp s in German can also be written as double s.

Hold down the letter you need an accent on, you'll get alternate characters to type the accent.

The one I'm using now is actually install the keyboard for the language you're using. It automatically switches when you need to type the different language. I've even installed a voice for the language I'm learning. Again, it switches automatically and you often get a better quality Voiceover voice that way.
