iPhone 14 pro max strange audio issue

By bryant walker, 20 March, 2023

iOS and iPadOS

Hello.
This last christmas, I received an iPhone 14 pro max. I really like ot so far after nearly 3 months of using it. However, I am having a rather strange issue with audio that happens while both using my hearing aids and the internal speakers.
Sometimes, after not doing anything on my iPhone for a while, when I start swiping or do anything else, the first bit of audio will get cut off. It's very similar to what happens to a lot of people on windows where their sound card will go to sleep after a few seconds of inactivity and the first half second or so of audio will be cut off while the sound card wakes up.
Is anyone else having this issue, or is this simply a new feature apple has added that I am unaware of?

Happens to me

I have an iPhone 14 and notice this happening. It's not consistent, but does happen several times a day. I had the same problem with my iPhone 12 Pro.

glad to know I'm not the only one

glad to know I'm not the only one experiencing this. When I upgraded my old 11 pro to IOS 16, it didn't seem to be doing this, at least not from what I could tell. I still have that hpone so will have to try it.

Here is a possible workaround

I figured out a bit of a solution/workaround for it. It is detailed in a post I made recently. The link is on the same website. It is here:

I don't have airpods

I don't have airpods, so this option doesn't seem to be showing up for me. Also, as I said earlier, it doesn't seem to just be happening with bluetooth. I am getting this behavior on the internal speaker as well which is odd. My first impression was that it was a bluetooth issue, as I do use hearing aids with my phone, but whenever I switch to the internal speaker I have to deal with this issue as well.

Contacting Apple accessibility is very important

By Ash Rein

As always, contacting Apple accessibility is going to be very important. On a website like this, There are only ever going to be confirmations that the issue exist. And possible work arounds. Beyond that, what is ultimately always needed is for a person to reach out to Apple and add their voice to the chorus.

Accessibility@apple.com and/or 18772043930. In some cases, Apple is already aware of a lot of these bugs. The reason why they might not be getting fixed is because enough people aren’t reaching out. As a result, the incentive to actually fix them is very low. Apple will only fix what they deem as being important. And they measure that by the number of people that call in or write.

report report report

If people don't report issues they won't get fixed. If 16.2 had it when 16.3 came out report it. When 16.3.1 came out you report it again if they had a 16.3.2 you would report again. What I am saying is report at every release even if it is just a point release.

THe other thing I am seeing on my iPhone 14 pro is volume randomly spiking up and that is when not using bluetooth randomly it sounds like 2 or 3 notches above where I am.

Lucky so far. 13 pro and OK so far. Maybe with iOS 16.4 be fix? Maybe Bella the cat has a better chance of becoming president of the US?
