Hello all,
I regularly listen to audio books and audio I've extracted from tv shows I downloaded/wripped from dvds, ETC...
I wondered if there were any free iOS apps that support playing a track/album like in the music app but pausing it, marking it, coming back to it later or next time the app is opened even if something else is played after it.
Also good seeking and scrubbing is ecentual.
working with magic tap would be nice, as would similar intigration with the lock screen as the music app. Although that's not working in iOS 16, no volume slider accept for control centre, and seeking doesn't work unless the track is playing, and only in 3 second increments.
Thanks
PS
I've tagged all my stuff with genres like Documentary/Film/Nature/Police Drama/Historical Drama/DocuDrama ETC so accept for the audiobooks the rest don't have an applicable genre tag.

What platforms are you on?…
What platforms are you on? IOS, but are you using Mac or windows?
Firstly, for your shows and TV I'd download infuse. The neat thing about infuse is that, once you have turned the MP3 into an MP4, and given it the correct naming convention, it will pull down all the meta data. It basically builds a private Netflix for you. I've got it set up with google drive on my Apple TV too with audio described tracks I've downloaded from the audio vault. It's pretty sweet.
Regarding your books, you've got a few options. the complicated one is setting up a Plex server and getting prologue, which is an audio book reader for IOS. A simpler solution is using something like Bound which, incidentally will work to play your shows too. I think it is paid but there may be a trial. This doesn't do anything fancy like grabbing the meta data, genre, book description etc, but it will serve.
the other alternative, if you're on Mac, is Apple Books. You have to sync your phone with your computer, but you can set that up to do it wirelessly, just a bit of a pain, but as long as you import the audio files into Apple Books, it will think they are audio books and treat them as such, IE remembering position.
iOS with windows
Hi,
I've been useing iTunes to sync all my music, IE pressing add folder to library on each subsection I want to add.
All of my files are in mp3 just different bitrates. All I was looking for was a free alternative to the iOS music app with bookmark/remember position or something similar.
Insidentally, I'm also looking for any windows/JAWS accessible programs to transfer music onto my iPhone because iTunes is really massave, buggy, cluncy and sort of obsolete in many ways. I don't like that because it syncs instead of just transfers when I travel with my Microsoft surface Go I can't add anything until I get home because my iTunes library and sync history with my phone is at home.
Thanks for replying so quickly.
ClipNotes
I do not have any personal experience with this app, but from the looks of it this is exactly what you are looking for.

HTH 😅
Bound might be good in that…
Bound might be good in that you can just upload the files to the cloud, iCloud, google drive etc, and they will be accessible. Syncing manually with a computer sounds like a nightmare...
