Hello all,
As a loyal Apple user, I really hope the new design maintains visual appeal without sacrificing any accessibility features. However, I always feel this is quite difficult to achieve. As for the reason, just think about how many new features in major systems over the past few years have been unsupported by VoiceOver, and you'll understand. Hopefully, my judgment is wrong this time.
Yes, Chicago, did not close the school with 6 feet of snow. That was normal. We walked on the streets if sidewalk were not clean. I think is the same now. Chicago, deals well with snow and expected kids to go to school Only time it was close if 20 below zero.
I've become a bit skeptical about announcements from tech companies, as they often create high expectations that aren't always met. This isn't unique to any one company; it seems to be a common practice across the industry. As a result, I prefer to wait until products are actually released before getting too excited about them.
Maybe this is too cynical, but my guess is that Apple are making such a mess of Apple Intelligence and Siri, that they are going for an easy win - just change some of the icons, round some corners and then release a new interface as a smoke-screen to divert attention from the lack of things they managed to deliver last time. Keeps most technical resources on the big problem and makes the customers think they are getting something new, when really it's just the same thing with a bit of glitter on top. I would be absolutely amazed if this was anything more than surface dressing.
So not really related but still I didn't think productive to post this in a new thread. The latest leaks tell that the main focus of this year's wwdc could be ipados 19 which will be again closer to macos than ever before, instead of ios 19 which won't get much aside the new look. Imo they better give something good whatever this is after the AI scandal. What do you guys think? I mean... The m4 ipad is great in everything else but the software limitations of ipados which is ios, so if this year they are *maybe* able to ship something good... I mean even brandon butch said the best thing we got in this matter is stage manager and even this is controversial in the apple community...
@mr grieves agree with you here. And for once, I think they are kinda doing the right thing in the short term. ... Let's see how accessibility is managed though.
As much as Apple may want you to believe it, the iPad isn't a Mac, and it's certainly not a computer replacement, particularly for power users. Perhaps it can be a computer replacement for a very basic user that's mainly concerned with web browsing, managing email, playing games, etc, but there are too many restrictions in the OS. I doubt they're going to significantly open the platform and make it behave more like a proper desktop OS, but I'm happy to be proven wrong and pleasantly surprised.
My hot take of the day is that they wanted ipad to be the chromebook of apple, very expensive. Great hardware but... Well, the usual problems of ipados. But yeah I am more excited for this and the Visions than Apple Intelligence at this point. Vision Pro imo is still wayy more succesfull than this AI thing they've done, or rather not done yet.

Re: 19
Semantics Paul, but I understand where you're coming from. I was simply stating that in eight months, it will be 2026.
Re: 19
Understood. We're good. Keep rocking.

Siri Personal Context Awareness
Hi All,
According to Brandon Butch, two weeks he stated that Apple has now planned to bring the promissed Siri features in iOS 19. Can't wait to try it out.

Great hardware, OK iOS. iOS 19? Might look like vision pro. Also heard about Siri in the fall. I will wait. No longer trust Apple.
