Insertion point jumps around on my iPhone

iOS and iPadOS

Hi. I’m using an iPhone 8 with IOS11, having moved up from a 5 and 9.3 just recently. I’m having a problem with the insertion point jumping around the screen when I’m trying to input text, which makes the actual completion of the task impossible. I switched to touch typing, but the insertion point keeps jumping around. Is anyone aware of this kind of problem and how to solve it? Thanks for your time.

Do you have 3D Touch enabled?

If you have 3D Touch enabled (which it might be if you haven't specifically disabled it) you might be pressing too firmly on the screen when entering characters. Try just lightly touching the screen, or if you don't want to use 3D Touch, you can disable it.

Hi, I also have the same problem. I have voiceover with touch typing and keep getting moving insersion point, then finished moving insersion point when remove finger tip. It is not a 3D touch issue, can press very lightly to get it.

It is worse when greasy or wet, but can happen anytime and oftern. It is very annoying and as said above makes typing impossible. If I do the same out of voiceover it does not happen !!
