How to mirror contents of old iPod on new iPod

I am looking for an easy way to make the contents of my new iPod Nano mirror those of the old Nano that will no longer hold a charge. All of the contents are in my library, and I could hunt them down one by one and add them, but I am talking about a couple of thousand songs out of an over ten thousand song collection and about 40 Audible books out of an Audible library that is over three hundred books large. I have never done anything with playlists or anything beyond just adding and removing songs individually and I am wondering if there is some way to create a playlist from the contents of the old iPod and then sync it to the new one when it arrives. Right now, the old Nano shows up in the iTunes library when plugs in and can be played if plugged into a charging cable. I am hoping that this will hold out until the new one arrives. I can get things going again the hard way if that is the only way that can work, but I am hoping there is an easier way to do this.

I hope this is the right forum to post this in, if not, I can move it to general chat or something, but as this applies to an iOS device and all of that, this seemed the best place to post it.

Thanks,

Chris
