good recording app for iOS?

Could I have some recommendations for a good recording app with good recording quality and ability to turn microphone gain all the way up for recording far away and very detailed sounds like airplane flights?

Look at Recorder HQ pro. It does cost, but the recording quality is outstanding and you can adjust mic gain if the option is enabled in the in-app settings. I've used it a couple times and the recordings are really good. it's also wonderfully, beautifully accessible with the use of VoiceOver.
