deleting apps on ios 8.13 problems!!

hi all!

I want to delete an app on my iPhone. running ios 8.13 I follow the following steps and they do not work. has this changed?

Follow these steps on the device to delete an app:
1.Press the Home button to move to the Home screen.
2.Locate the app you wish to delete. You may either flick left or right or drag your finger until its name is spoken. It may be necessary to use the three-finger flick right or left to switch to the page on which the app is located.
3.Double tap and hold your finger in place for about one second. VoiceOver will say "moving" followed by the app's name. Release your finger. You are now in an edit mode that enables deleting and moving apps around the screen.
4.Double tap the app's name. A dialogue asks you to confirm your wish to delete the app.
5.Double tap the delete button. The app has been removed.
6.Locate and double tap any additional apps you wish to delete.
7.Press the Home button to leave the edit mode and return to the Home screen.

I use a single finger double tap, and hold. doesn't work. need steps thanks

no it hasn't changed

no, not sure why you're having problems, but this is still the quickest way to do it, and still works, at least on my iPhone 6, and iPad mini retina. however, there is another way you can delete apps.

go to settings, general, usage, manage storage. in here, you can scroll through the apps you have on your device, and see how much space it is taking on your device.

double tap the app you wish to remove. in this screen, scroll down, and press delete app this will bring up the same screen to delete the app, as you would get by doing it the normal way. press the delete app in this screen, and the app is gone

as i said. i'm unsure why the normal way isn't working for you, but it could be a quirk on your particular device, or anything. but try the way via settings to get rid of the app you want removed.

good luck

Another way to delete the app, using your first method.

Try moving the wrong app, in otherwords if you want to delete News, pretend you want to delete, facebook. the reason is you are now in the edi tmode. You can go back find the news app in this example, and delete.

I have had this problem too

For certain apps, when I double tap and hold, nothing happens. This seems to happen ever since iOS Version 8.1. I too recommend the settings, general useage method.

Location of App

If the app in question is on the fifth row of the screen, then you can't delete it. You'll have to move other apps around until it's in the fourth row, and then you can double tap on it to delete. If that's too much work, I suggest doing what the others already mentioned: go into settings and delete it from there.

hi:

did some more testing, and my apps that I want to delete are on the fourth row of the screen. so it is not the task bar, but when I double click nothing happens. it does not say moving app etc. however, if the app is on rows 1 through 3 then I can delete them or move them. but if you can't get into the move feature when an app is on the fourth row above the task bar, then what do you do? yes deleting them through the setting area does work.

using iPhone 4s ios 8.13

thanks

I never have had the issue

I never have had the issue but I find an easier way this way you know it's gone.

  1. goto settings, general, usage
  2. tap on manage storage under the apps section, that is, the local space on your phone
  3. tap on the app you want to delete
  4. tap delete, then confirm.
  5. Wait for the screen to refresh and repeate the steps to remove any other apps

The advantage of this is that it will remember where you removed the app from and will reinstall it in the same folder or page etc the next time you reinstall the app.

Hope that helps
