can you set your destination using Siri with Uber and Lyft?

By Troy, 14 September, 2016

iOS and iPadOS

hello,
The subject says it all. Uber support with Siri was just added today and Lyft yesterday. My question is is there a way that I can request my destination through Siri? or once I request a Uber or a lyft do I have to go into the app and set my destination manually?
Thanks

Hi would like to know the same.

I've heard you can

I've heard it's possible, but haven't tested it yet.
I guess you would just say something like "Request an Uber to XXXX Name of Street", or "Request an Uber to Walmart".

not sure

If you can, I don't see how. I did get SIRI to call the Uber, and I saw that it could call Lyft, though I opted against it that day because it was further away. What I do like, Uber tells you how soon the ride can be there and confirms you want to call it. What I think we all need to keep in mind, because SIRI does not announce your location,it might be good to ask where you are first to ensure your location is accurate for either ride service. Just a thought. Thankfully, mine was. And, I set my destination in the app, as I wasn't certain how to carry out that task with SIRI.

problem with setting destination with lift

I have this problem whare if I try to book a lyft, siri says it's not in my area. I know this is a lie, because I have been booking lyft rides for the past couple of days through the ap.
Also, I am having a problem with booking an uber, so if anyone has any ideas on these two things, any help would be nice.

@Darrell Bowles I did get Uber working with Siri, still unsure if you can tell her a destination though. I'm having the same problem with Lyft. I reached out to lyft support about this and they told me it must be my phone. I don't think so as others are having the same issue.

That is an excellent

That is an excellent suggestion to ask Siri where you are first. I've been playing with it but have not gone to the end to request Uber because I haven't had any place to go yet. But, looks like you can say 'I need a ride to (name of someone in your contact that has an addres, or say address) using UberX'. Siri comes back saying something like you want to use Uber right? I forget the exact wording. Say 'yes'. Then it tells me that a car is 4 minutes away do I want to confirm. I bail out here b cause I don't need to go anywhere at the moment. I even asked 'I need a ride to Heather's office using UberX'. Heather is my audiologist and it doesn't seem to have a problem with it. Can't wait to actually try it to see if it works.

Meant to add that when you request a ride from Uber, it will ask what kind of ride. That one took me a bit. It wants to know which car, UberX, UberXl etc.

Setting up the destination on Oober

Hello there,

I guess the result is simple. While telling siri, why don't you tell the place as well? like for an example, "Book me an Oober to Mexico?"

As per the pickup point, if our GPS is ok, it will be perfect. I once booked a oober ride and got success in India via siri.
