I had been avoiding the update to iOS 22 because on my iPad and my girlfriend’s iPhone I was unable to play the crossword puzzle in Apple news. unfortunately, my iPhone updated last night. now, as soon as I try to read the crossword puzzle, it puts me in an edit field. I can swipe left and get back to the top controls, but I cannot swipe through the crossword puzzle. has anybody else figured out a way around this?
For what it’s worth, I submitted a bug report on here and on Apple when I first noticed this with my iPad. I was emailed by Apple this, and told that somebody else did not have the problem. I have now seen it on my iPad Pro, an iPhone 15 Pro, and my iPhone 16 Pro.
If anybody knows a way around thisso that I can continue my several hundred day streak of crossword puzzle completion, please let me know? Thanks in advance.

Do you have your automatic updates turned on? Cause your phone wouldn’t update itself unless you put that. And we’re in iOS 26.2 right now. I’m sorry I don’t know anything about the crossword puzzles. Hopefully you can get that figured out.
