wich wireless harddrive?
I bought an ipad two Days ago.
I'm planning to save Money so I can buy a wireless harddrive in order to store a lot of files I have.
There are two harddrives I'm looking at.
seagate wireless, and wd my passport wireless by western digital.
I know things about seagate, since I've read about it on this side.
but how is it with the other one?
I'm thinking about this since it has an sd card reader, and built in Power bank.
I don't own an iPad but I got an external hard drive earlier this year. It is from Western Digital, and I ordered it online from Best Buy. More on the ordering experience in a moment, but the drive is very nice. It does exactly what it's supposed to do, and is the perfect size and weight. The software which came with the drive seems to work great with VoiceOver too. I had a slight issue at first. Apparently when the software was first installed, there was some sort of time-out error that kept popping up whenever I'd listen to stuff in iTunes, but a sighted tutor helped me resolve the issue. I unfortunately don't remember off the top of my head how we resolved it exactly, but I think it had something to do with a wrong iTunes configuration. Now to the online ordering experience. I've found Best Buy's website to work very well with VO, and everything went smoothly. The drive arrived exactly according to the email confirmation which I received. I received an online survey from Best Buy regarding my order just after it was delivered, and the survey was very accessible. I inadvertently subscribed to receive all the Best Buy deals though, and I've since been bombarded with their emails. But all in all this was a great experience. Mileage may very though depending on numerous factors.
This is just my opinion, not backed up with any real data or facts, but I definitely prefer Western Digital drives. I've always had very good luck with them, unlike my experience with Seagate.
I do not own a wireless drive, but I do own both a MyBookLive and a MyCloud drive by WD. These are NAS drives, the MyCloud being a newer model of the MyBookLive. If I were making the choice, I'd definitely choose the WD wireless drive.
How is it with the western disks? are they usb powered or do I need to plug it into the wall?
I need to be able to use the disk with both ipad, windows pc and mac. do you Think that western can do that?
the seagate is just to plug in, and then begin browsing files, and have fun.
I would think you have to plug it into the wall then connect to it worelessly. This is about all I know.
