Using Lightning adapter with devices that have the minijack connector.

Hello,

What happens if you use the Apple Lightning to 3.5 adapter with devices that already have a headphone/minijack connector? Would it be possible to have two simultaneous audio connections? Does it only allow you to have one going at a time?
