Physical keyboard for iPad and web browsing

Hi! I’m getting an iPad soon (not sure which model yet), and was wondering if anyone had any keyboard recommendations (without a trackpad). Which one is most comfortable to type in and has the most buttons, and what model do you have? Also, what is the web browsing experience like? Any problems I should be aware of?

I use iPad all the time, I have a Logitech keyboard case and it is great. Do not get the model withthe trackpad I it is comfortable, has laptop keyboard feel, lots of keyboard controls, still it adds weight to your iPad. I tried many keyboard cases from Amazon and they are fine for sometime then they break. Web browsing is just fine, I use Chrome and Edge for most of the time.

Be aware, though!

I like working on my iPad, and I have not used my Mac nor my Windows laptop for a long time. Still you need to understand that everything is doable on the iPad however some tasks are done differently. This may cause problems for you in the beginning then you will get used to them. One of these differences is editing and writing in general. I use Scrivener and for me it is great and adequate to do most things.

What about Apple‘s smart keyboard, the one without a trackpad. Does anyone know anything about that one?

Yes, it has a row of functionkeys. The one I have is the Pro 11 2020. I prefer it over Apple Smart Keyboard. The smart keyboard is overpriced and it lacks the row of function keys, also I did not like the typing experience on the smart keyboard. I even watched reviews and there has been a complaint that the smart keyboard won’t hold up really well for a year or so without showing signs of wear and tear.

I don't have any specific keyboard recommendations, but a keyboard case isn't always the answer unless you move around a lot. I find myself that a separate external keyboard can work really well.

It lets you do things like put the iPad next to you like a giant Trackpad, or switch which one is in front of you based on what you're doing. Not to mention you can do sneaky things if you have to, like leave it charging and go somewhere else with just the Bluetooth headset and a keyboard.

Either way, I'd still suggest something that's easy to take the iPad out of, since it can be very nice to just sit around with the iPad on its own. Just my opinion, of course.

Do you have a keyboard shortcut to right click on something, like shift f10 on a PC? Or one to explore the scell of a spreadsheet, like F2 on the PC? Just curious

VoiceOver+Shift+M for the right click equivalent. Can you explain what you mean by the F2 command on Excel?

When you press left or right arrow on a spreadsheet (either Excel or Google sheets) it moves to the next or previous cell, but if you press F to on a PC, you can navigate by character or by line within the selected cell. Wondering if there is an equivalent for voiceover

Yes, there is a substitute for F2 in Excel

The equivalent for the f2key , used for editing within a cell in Excel in Windows, is control + U on the mac and I'm assuming for the iPad as well.
