Apple Bluetooth keyboard in Safari with the IPhone 5s

Hardware and Accessories

Hello everyone,

I am having trouble entering text into edit fields in Safari. When I try, I turn quick nav off, type, and the keyboard types multiples of the same key. For example, I might type an a, and it will type a about 15 times. Before I go to the Apple Stoe, does anyone have any suggestions? The keyboard does not behave this way in other applications.

Do you have Quick Nav disabled? Be sure to press the left and right arrows together until you hear VoiceOver say "Quick Nav off". Once it is off, typing should work as expected. Remember to turn it back on if you want first-letter webpage navigation (h for headings, l for links, and so on).

When I used a Bt keyboard with my old iPad, also noticed this behaviour but in messages, not safari.

If you are getting multiple characters while typing, try turning VoiceOver off and back on. This should resolve the issue, at least temporarily. I have run into this problem on occasion ever since upgrading to iOS 8.

Hi Crysania
Unfortunally all Bluetooth Keyboard brands has the same issue not matter the manufacture.
I was thinking about same as you, however I can confirmed using multiple bluetooth keyboards presenting this issue I have some apple bluetooth keyboard bought 2 months ago and other one not apple brand and both present the same issues running voiceOver.
That I can tell you is this issue running VO and Bluetooth keyboard always are presented when type on edit fields.
those issues as multiple letters or couldn't type single characters.
on my new apple Bluetooth keyboard seen maybe 3 or 4 times this issue and sometimes the tips mention below fix the problem.
#1 close all the apps using the app switcher.
#2 turn bluetooth off
#3 Turn the bluetooth keyboard off
#4 Turn iOS device off
allot of people say turning voiceOver off and back on helps but I haven't seen difference
#5 Wait 2 minutes to Turn the iOS device on
#6 enable bluetooth on
#7 Turn bluetooth keyboard on
Don't forget the quick mav
Try open and type on specific apps as
Sometimes forgeting the device help and sometimes doesn't as you see I tryed all but it helphs
I can't confirm this but sometimes changing settings on the iOS device as Typing Mode as Braille typing mode affect it.
