Using a Mantis with iOS 26

Hi all,
A key unfortunately broke on my trusty e-reader, so I need to use my mantis for now. I am struggling with a few things:.
1: I heard you could type using the Perkins/eight dot braille layout, however I have found no way to enable this.
2. When I try to map a keyboard command to open braille access, or do other things like go home, app switcher, etc, it does not work.
3. I have tried the VO+Y, and VO+SHIFT+Y, but none of those activate braille access.
Does anyone know of any workarounds? Using my mantis with my phone is frustratingly tedius and apple accessibility seems rather uninformed on the matter when I called. They refered me to HumanWare, who promptly told me to contact apple. So I am hoping someone on here knows something that can help.
