Hello AppleVis community,

I’m excited to share that my health insurance provider has officially approved the funding for the Envision Glasses Pro, and I’ll be receiving them soon!
Before I start using them in my daily life, I would love to hear your experiences and tips, especially if you’ve been using the Envision Glasses for a while.
1. Day-to-Day Independence:
Do you find the Envision Glasses Pro practical and reliable enough to give us, as blind users, real independence in everyday situations?
Have you used them successfully in restaurants, recognizing people, or handling official documents on your own?
2. Most Useful Features:
Which features do you personally use the most and find genuinely impactful?
Is it text reading, face recognition, video calls with the Envision Ally feature, or something else that turned out surprisingly useful?
3. Appearance and Design:
To be honest, I wasn’t quite happy with how the glasses looked at first. I’ve requested custom clear lenses to make them appear more like regular glasses.
Has anyone else done the same? Do you think the appearance becomes more acceptable in public settings after adding lenses, or is it still a bit “weird-looking”?

I would truly appreciate any feedback, tips, or personal stories you’re willing to share. I believe the strength of our community lies in learning from each other’s experiences, especially when exploring assistive technology that aims to empower us.
Thanks in advance for your insights,
Rezan

never heard of the pro variant of the envision glasses. I myself have tried someone else’s pair of regular envision glasses for like five seconds, so I can’t tell you what is better or not.
I personally have a pair of the Meta Ray band Smart glasses, and considering what I use them for, they work well enough for me.
I’m pretty sure as of July 2025, you can’t call Aira with the Meta Ray band glasses, but you can use Be My Eyes instead. they can somewhat reliably read text and describe images. When I used the envision glasses two years ago, they didn’t seem to have an AI that you could get full on descriptions from, like the meta glasses.
Keep in mind I only was able to try them for less than a minute, so I most likely could’ve missed something.

You say you got these approved through your insurance? May I ask how you went about doing this?
Thanks in advance. :-)

Hi Brian,
In Germany, health insurance providers can cover the full cost of assistive devices if they are officially recognized as medical aids. Envision Glasses are listed as such, so my insurance agreed to fund them as part of their responsibility to provide approved medical equipment.

Thank you for the explanation. :)

So you have 3 versions of envision glasses.
You have the read edition, the home edition and the pro edition.
