Share Your Bug Reports with AppleVis
If you experience a bug in Apple Beta Software, the most important thing you can do is to file a report in Feedback Assistant. Please do not assume that Apple is already aware of a bug or that your report won't make a difference; your report may provide crucial information, and submitting bug reports directly to Apple helps them reproduce and resolve the issue faster. The more reports they receive, the higher the priority Apple is likely to give to fixing the bug.
If you are using beta software, please use the Feedback Assistant on your device to submit feedback and bug reports. If you are using a public release, this blog post explains how to report the issue and what information to include.
In 2025, AppleVis launched the Community Bug Reporting Program with the goal of improving the quality and quantity of information we share with the community about bugs in Apple software releases. If you would like to contribute to this effort, please submit your reports via our Community Bug Report Form.
All reports shared with AppleVis must first be filed with Apple via Feedback Assistant. More information about the Community Bug Program is available here.

First exciting iOS in ages
I’m actually really excited about this version, can anyone tell me is it possible to make the describe screen feature a shortcut for something like the Action button? I’m mainly wondering for those apps where it takes up the full screen and you can’t get to the Dynamic Island.
Descriptions
I'm actually very excited for new description feature and have some questions.
Thanks in advance.
Recovery Mode
I got it up on my iPad Mini 6th gen. Wehn in recovery you have to tripple click your sleep/wake button. Also, to exit recovery mode, you just do the same button press combo: tap volume up, tap volume down, hold sleep/wake button for about 15 seconds.
Searching Mail
In a previous thread, I indicated that the new Siri was not giving me results when I asked about Mail items. I found a setting that might have impacted this.
In the Settings / Mail /Apple Intelligence dialog, there is a checkbox to allow search results from mail. This had been unchecked. Now that I've checked this, I can ask Siri about messages in my Inbox. I even had Siri delete a particular message in my Inbox just by using voice commands after I had asked Siri about messsages in my inbox. Nice!
One quirk, when I asked how many unread messages were in my Inbox, Siri listed about 20 messages even though I only had one unread mesage. I think some of those other messages might have actually been in my trash folder.
Anyway, the new Siri seems to be working nicely with natural and compound voice commands but, as most AI, isn't 100% perfect.

can’t play voicemails with VoiceOver on: FB23199700
I just reported this. I encourage anyone else seeing this to do the same. Someone reported it in a WhatsApp group that I am an admin for.
Recovery Mode
What is this Recovery Mode everyone keeps talking about? I didn't think those modes were accessible with VoiceOver on iOS and iPadOS devices. What does it allow you to do, and which devices support it?
Recovery mode
Hello everyone.
From this thread, it appears the new recovery mode in iOS 27/iPadOS 27, available on all devices supporting the above platforms, can now be used with VoiceOver. Apparently you would shut down your device as normal, but then you press and hold the side button a little longer to boot into recovery mode instead of booting normally. VoiceOver either starts automatically, or you would press and release the side button three times quickly to launch VoiceOver. From there, you can perform operations such as updating or restoring iOS/iPadOS, run diagnostics and attempt to start up normally.
I have not personally tested this, and some haven't managed to get it working, so test at your own risk and we await your thoughts.
The recovery mode is great
Hello everyone, I am using iPhone 17 Pro
I’ve tested the iOS 27 beta software, and I can confirm that Recovery Mode works properly with VoiceOver.
voiceover lag
I noticed a significant lag in VoiceOver from the system. Several other participants noticed this, and one of them wrote that this is not a serious problem. I think that this is a fairly serious problem that interferes with the normal use of the iPhone. I encourage everyone who has also encountered this to submit a report in the Apple Feedback Assistant app.
Siri and seeing through the camera
Several questions:
First, I don't seem to see the "viewfinder" in the camera app any more. Has this disappeared or is Voiceover just not seeing it?
Second, I was trying to have siri look through the camera to tell me what she sees and describe the scene. I tried variants of "Hey Siri, what do you see", "Hey siri, look through the camera and describe the scene", etc., but Siri only seems to either not seee anything or just says that there is a gray countertop.
Any hints? I would be surprised if Siri couldn't describe what the camera sees.

Dismissing Siri dialog
When I have an interaction with Siri from the home screen or from within an app, the series of Siri prompts and responses appears on the screen and covers up part of the app or dialog that was open.
I have not figured out how to get rid of the Siri dialog that pops up. I tried the scrubbing gesture, but no luck.
Also in that Siri dialog there usually appears a button like "open app", but double tapping on that doesn't do anything.
Are these bugs or am I missing some critical gestures?

Dismissing Siri
In my experience, performing the Home gesture works to dismiss Siri.

Maybe she needs glasses?
Notifications
@Holger I believe notifications are sorted out on the beta.

I am just hoping the bug with VO and notification is fix, regarding the other, I am not allow to do so anymore. Was told if it continues, will be remove from this place.
Holger:
It is definitely fixed. That bug where VO would lock before reading the entire notification is gone. I have observed this with all my notifications.
BlindFolk
Thanks for letting me know. Happy to hear so and it will continue. Thanks.
notification bug fixed
Yes, I also tested this with several long notifications, and it appears to be fixed.
I have, however, discovered another bug. In the Phone app's Recents list, activating a name or phone number causes VoiceOver to announce "selected," but no action is performed and the call is not initiated. To place a call, I have to long-press the entry, open the contact details, and then start the call from there.
This issue does not occur in the Favorites list, where activating a contact works as expected.
Sports
Is anyone in the UK doing AD for sports other than itv? This is the first time I've tried it - I mostly just listen to the football and end up either listening to the radio (5 live or TalkSport) or using the commentary provided by Liverpool FC (which I believe is what is used for AD if you are in the grounds - they always end up shouting out the blind/low vision people in the stadium - even though I've had to go through button button trying to find how to start the stream.) If there was another option that would be interesting. I think itv only cover internationals.
Regarding commentary outside the UK, for the world cup specifically I think maybe the official fifa world cup app might have it? I've not tried it but I'm sure I read that somewhere.
Re mr grieves and AD
I get the feeling this is on the wrong thread but, to quickly answer your question, I don't think so. The AD track for BBC will be Radio 5 Live. There is a FIFA audio description app for both IOS and android. Just search the app store.

It's impossible to swipe between the options in recovery mode on my iPhone 11. VoiceOver focus gets stuck in a loop, and I have to use explore by touch.
Recovery mode isn't working for me
it's not working at all on my ipad 9, i can't enter it buy holding the power button for a long time or the old way of holding the home and power buttons
Using Direct Touch In Recovery Assistant
I did not report this as a bug. I'm not convinced that it actually is a bug. This could be the expected behaviour in the recovery assistant.
Touch in Recovery
I highly doubt this is considered expected behavior. It seems to be a standard user interface with standard controls, so I suspect there's some kind of glitch right now that causes VoiceOver item navigation to loop between the first few items at the top of the screen.
Indexing?…
My indexing continues. It’s been happening since I downloaded this iOS when it was released it’ll be two weeks tomorrow. I’m just wondering if it’s really happening any way to tell other than having a Mac I’m just wondering when this will get done and is it really worth keeping the phone plugged in all the time if nothing‘s happening could that cause potential damage to the battery all the best for Marc in Montreal
Marc from Montreal
Brandon Butch reported on his youtube video that took him 10 days.
Marc from Montreal
Don't worry. I'm also in the same boat. Luckily I have received SIRI, but some people who downloaded the beta since it's launch, are yet to receive SIRI. And I don't believe it has to do with one's region.
I am in South Africa, and I heard people who are in the United States who have not yet received Siri.
Re: Indexing
Yes, the indexing can take several days or perhaps longer. It really depends on how much data is on your phone. Since this is a compute intensive operation that could easily drain your battery, I believe that Apple tries to do most of the heavy lifting at night when your phone is plugged in.
From the results I get back from Siri now that indexing is done on my phone, it seems like it scours your complete history of text messages, e-mails, photos, etc. I was amazed at the results when I asked something like "What should I buy Chris for his birhtday". Siri came up with suggestions referenced in messages and e-mails from well over a year ago.
So, be patient.

Does Siri interfere with other app shortcuts
I have an app called Echo Heart Rate. This monitors my pulse as I exercise. The developer put in several shortcuts like "Echo heart rate" which has Voiceover speak your current pulse.
This works the first time I try it with the new Siri. But the next time I ask, Siri makes a noise every second or two as if it was thinking. Then finally, Siri says "there was a problem". The Echo shortcut then no longer works.
wondering if anyone else has run into built in app shortcuts crashing with asking Siri to run the shortcut.

Siri comment area interfering with subsequent responses
I have noted in a previous post that the Siri response stays on screen and will cover up part of an open app. This open screen seems to interfere with subsequent responses from Siri.
Here is an example:
While I am exercising on my treadmill, I will ask Siri what time it is. Siri will correctly report the time correctly as, for example 1:47.
Several minutes later, I will ask Siri what time it is. Now, since the last Siri response is still being displayed, Siri will again report the same time that it reported last time, i.e., 1:47. I am guessing this is because Siri is seeing the time from my last request.
Has anyone noticed this effect in other situations and is the Siri response being displayed confusing Siri with future request?
I wish there was a way to dismiss that Siri history dialog that covers up an open app without manually dismissing the Siri history dialog since I'm often not in a position to manually dismiss the dialog by hand when exercising.

Issues with Watch app an complications
On my iPhone I get into the Watch app.
Problem #1: the first button in the dialog is not labeled. Actually, it is the second button, right after the "dictate" button. When you activate this it brings up a dialog in which you can set the watch colors and other attributes.
Problem #2: Under a heading past the list of colors, I only see one of the two complications that I have active for my watch.
Problem #3: I do not see any place in the dialog where I can add a new complication or edit the complication that is not shown in the dialog but that is available on my watch.

Indexing
Thanks, peet for your response, much appreciated. It will be two weeks tomorrow I believe since the new iOS beta came out this seems unusually long for me or it’s probably more likely my lack of patience.
Indexing
remember it is ttaking in to account everything on your phone. I can't stress that enough. It could take a month or two in some extreme cases. "everything on your phone" this means "everything" every text email etc.
