hey all,
I am slowly toying with the idea at some stage of giving the newest Mac operating system a try so I can at least see what it's like.
I'm interested to know if there are any major show stopping bugs?
Little annoyances I expect but I need to know if there is anything that is going to bring things to a screeching halt?
Thanks so much for any help.
Michael

I'm on Ventura now and I'd…
I'm on Ventura now and I'd suggest waiting. The issues still outweigh the advantages. Voiceover is pretty buggy and loses focus in tables, gets stuck in safari, has a cracking sound which is rather unpleasant and generally not that polished.
It's not awful, but I'd not say you're gaining anything buy jumping over just yet. The text check aspect is still very clunky which, as far as I can tell, is really the only upgrade that blind users will appreciate.
It's certainly workable, but I don't think it will be a pleasant experience unless you wish to get involved reporting bugs...
You can always make a new volume on your Mac and install it like that, but then you've got all the time setting stuff up to work with accounts and so on. For what it's worth, I think the final release is probably only a month or so away and I'd wait for the full version which, no doubt, will still be suffering from issues, but hopefully a few less.

Thanks for the feedback
Thanks so much for the feedback Oliver, I had a feeling this would be the case. I'm just testing the waters to see where we are standing.
Yet, I'd dive in face first
To each their own, but my understanding of reporting bugs is pretty self explanatory. If someone reports a bug, apple says, ok we see it. If nine or ten or more report the bug, apple might take notice and say hey, we should really look into that. Now if you're comfortable reporting bugs in any capacity, everything from voice over, to say if safari is "not responding", it might help. Saying all of the above, this is the point where I sheepishly admit i haven't put Ventura on my system just yet. Only because people flip out about a 30 year old synthesizer being on board, I lack the interest to test everything else out. good luck whatever you choose to do. Note I wasn't picking on anyone's choice whether or not to install.
There is certainly a greater…
There is certainly a greater benefit for everyone if everyone jumped on the beta wagon however, not so much for the individual.
As long as those who install betas understand it's not a shortcut to new features, but work, it's fine. For the majority of people, myself included, it's best to wait for the full release for more stable and less frustrating behaviour. I regret, somewhat, installing Ventura, though am taking the opportunity to poke about in every day use and report bugs.
I'm self employed and am somewhat flexible with deadlines which means, the fact that I have to restart VO several times per hour to fix a sticking point, to find a different way of accessing information using a different device and so on, don't have so much of an impact. For those who want to get things done, work, or play in fact, this will not be much fun.
An example here, I can't actually read back through this edit field. Can only hope what I've written is already golden.
