VoiceOver feedback wanted for King, an iPhone and iPad card game in TestFlight

App Development and Programming

Hi everyone,

I'm Antonio, an independent developer from Italy. I've made an Apple version of King, a traditional card game with different objectives from one hand to the next.

You play offline against three computer opponents. The app and its rules are available in English and Italian.

Feedback from VoiceOver users

This is my first project where I've worked extensively on accessibility. I've implemented VoiceOver support and simplified controls, and I'd like feedback from people who use VoiceOver regularly.

Would anyone be interested in trying the public beta on iPhone or iPad? You don't need to know King already.

Even a short test would help. In particular, can you:

  • Understand the cards in your hand?
  • Follow whose turn it is?
  • Play a card and check the scores without assistance?

I'd also appreciate hearing about confusing focus changes or announcements that are too long or repetitive.

Try the beta

Install the King beta through TestFlight

You can send feedback through TestFlight or reply here. Ads are disabled while VoiceOver is active.

Thank you, Antonio

just tried this, sounds a little like Spades; anyway, when i complete say the first hand, and hand 2 of 13 starts, voiceover still showing as if we are still playing hand 1 where can't play kings and jacks.

i hope this makes sense.

Hi Karok,
Thank you for trying King and reporting this. I’d like to make sure I understand exactly where it happens.
When you say β€œhand 2 of 13”, do you mean the second trick, after all four players have played one card, or the second full deal, after pressing β€œNext hand”?
Could you also tell me which words VoiceOver reads at that point? This will help me understand whether the game is presenting outdated information or whether the distinction between tricks and hands needs to be clearer.
Thanks again β€” this is very helpful.
