When Starting a New Conversation in the Messages App Using Braille Screen Input, VoiceOver Does Not Speak Words Deleted if Deleting by Word with Two-Finger Flick Left

Category
Braille
Severity
Minor

Description

When starting a new conversation in the Messages app with VoiceOVer enabled and using Braille Screen Input, VoiceOver does not speak words deleted if you are using the two-finger flick left to delete by word. This behavior only occurs when starting a new conversation (it *does not* occur when typing a message in an existing thread) and it only occurs when using the two-finger swipe left to delete by word. Using the one-finger swipe left to delete by character speaks as expected.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Enable VoiceOver and enable Braille Screen Input in Settings> Accessibility> VoiceOver> Rotor.
  2. Open the Messages app and compose a new conversation.
  3. With VoiceOver in the Message edit field, rotor over to Braille Screen Input and type several words/a sentence.
  4. Use the two-finger swipe left to delete by Word.

The expected behavior is that VoiceOver will speak the words you are deleting as they are deleted.

The actual behavior appears to be that the words are deleted, but VoiceOver does not speak them.
