Prices Preceded by the British Pound Symbol are not Spoken Correctly by VoiceOver

When speaking text that includes the "£" symbol, VoiceOver speaks this in the form of "Pound Sign 10" rather than "10 Pounds"(note that this is the symbol for the UK currency).
