On the Power Off / Medical ID / Emergency Call screen, VoiceOver finds and speaks erroneous UI elements if invoked when you have an open app in the foreground

Description

On the Power Off / Medical ID / Emergency Call screen, VoiceOver finds and speaks erroneous UI elements such as the word “Call” and the phrase “location.fill.radiowaves.left.and.right iPhone Findable After Power Off Forward” if invoked when you have an open app in the foreground.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Ensure that VoiceOver is enabled.
  2. Open any app.
  3. Trigger the the Power Off / Medical ID / Emergency Call screen (the method will depend upon your device).
  4. Listen to what VoiceOver announces when the screen is first displayed.
  5. Use a 1-finger swipe right/left to explore the screen.

You would expect VoiceOver to only speak and find UI elements which are present on screen and to speak them in an accurate and meaningful way.

What actually happens, is that VoiceOver will announce “call” as the screen first appears.

When exploring the screen, you should find that VoiceOver announces a UI element it calls “location.fill.radiowaves.left.and.right iPhone Findable After Power Off Forward” after the Power Off button.

Remind me, have you encountered any of the bugs ever mentioned by anybody on AppleVis? I seem to recall that you typically post this time of year to say that your installation of iOS is completely bug free. Can you point us towards a download link? 🤣

As for this one being reported to Apple, the feedback number is shown above.

Oh, and sadly I don't have your edition of iOS 15, as mine has this issue. Fortunately, it's probably the most minor of those I've seen so far.

Oh, and one more thing, are you triggering the power off screen whilst in an app? If not, try this, as the behavior doesn't seem to occur if you trigger power off from the home screen, lock screen, or Notification Center.
