What I Think Should be Sendero's top Priority for Development and why

Posted on Friday, July 12, 2013 by Scott Davert
Sendero Group has published a poll asking users what they would like to see as the next 2 features present in their next release of the Seeing Eye GPS app. It's great that they're taking user feedback seriously, but one of the things that people can vote on seems like it should be a higher priority than the others listed, as it's an accessibility issue.…

Unfortunately, by the time that this news started to spread around the Internet, the Seeing Eye GPS App had already disappeared once more.

Although it's still unclear why the app was removed so quickly, a number of people who were able to download it have reported that they were unable to process the in-app purchase. So…

Advocacy Pays Off in the AppleVis Editorial Team App Pick of the Month for May

Posted on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 by AppleVis

At the end of each month, we at the AppleVis Editorial Team take a look at all the apps that have been posted to the site during that month—either for the first time, or where there has been a significant update—and decide which of these we think is the most noteworthy.

One of the most rewarding parts of contributing to the AppleVis Editorial Team is when we see a totally inaccessible app add full VoiceOver support. Our app pick of the month for May comes from this category…

The optimal RSS reader: life in the post-Google Reader era

Posted on Friday, May 17, 2013 by Amir Soleimani

It was a shocker. When Google announced that Google Reader will shut down on July 1st, apart from the usual cycle of disvelief and sorrow the first thing which came to my mind was what to use after Google Reader's demise. On the one hand, Google Reader provides an easy way to read RSS feeds in a synchronyzed way regardless of one's platform of choice. On the other (and this is my true source of concern…

Internet Broadcasters! Broadcasting from your iOS device could be just around the corner!

Posted on Thursday, April 4, 2013 by DrewWeber
A lot of us Blind folks are interested in radio. Some of the lucky ones are probably doing an air shift in a commercial station as I write this. :) The rest of us, may be doing that one of these days, but for the time being, we get our thrill by broadcasting on the internet. Today, when we think of hosting a show, we think of needing a desktop, or laptop computer. This all may be changing, very soon! How cool would it be to broadcast an internet radio show, from wherever you are? It seams a…

Google recently announced that it will shutdown its popular RSS aggregation service, Google Reader, on July 1. If the tech pundits are to be believed, the early frontrunner to be many people's replacement RSS service is Feedly.

Slacker Radio claims that its iOS app gives listeners "anytime, anywhere access to the world’s best music and entertainment". Unfortunately, this does not currently include blind and low vision users, who can only access a very small fraction of the available music stations, as these are presented in a way that makes them impossible to browse and select with VoiceOver. If this weren…

iOS Gaming: Have Blind Gamers Ever Had it so Good?
