#1 Sensitivity problem is indeed fixed

Member of the AppleVis Editorial Team

I can confirm that iOS 7.0.3 fixes the touchscreen sensitivity problem that many VoiceOver users were encountering in iOS 7. Credit to the Accessibility Team at Apple for a job well done with this!

#2 VoiceOver bugs fixed? Answer, yes!

Good to see these issues addressed in the latest update. Guess that can close the long-standing thread with everyone mentioning the bugs. Very nice to see the accessibility team is, indeed paying attention to users!

#3 voiceOver volume bugs running on 5S

#4 Two issues

Club AppleVis Member

I found two problems. One is annoying only. The other ... Well, I hope it's just me. The annoying issue is that when you lock the screen it now repeats "screen locked" twice when other audio is playing. And, of course, that stupid issue where it repeats "screen locked" when you adjust the volume still persists. Now, my problem. The update wiped out more than 50% of my e-mails that I had saved on my phone. Hopefully I can get them back from iCloud.

#5 Repeating Screen Locked

I've noticed the bug of VO repeating Screen Locked. It's happening to me even when there isn't other audio playing.

#6 I posted this ages back

Hi. My Four would say screen locked, but hang in the lick screen so I had to click lock again. Now with the five that finaly went away but i swear it's a device issue sometimes. Andyes my phone says screen locked after i adjust the volume. Maybe it might be a new feature? Kind of like the mute and unmuted switch? Just offering a suggestion. Hope the person who lost the email gets his back.

#7 Hi,first off I can confirm

Hi, first off I can confirm both the already mentioned screen lock issues. I have also noticed that VoiceOver now no longer plays a sound when you close a folder, you know the noise you used to get if you were in a folder and pressed the home button to get back to the home screen. Are others seeing this folder sound issue? interestingly I get the opening folder noise that goes up in pitch when I tap a folder just not the closing sound, I have to say if this is an issue for other people this is just sloppy on Apples part.

#8 Safari and headings

To answer the question about Safari and headings, no, this issue still exists. The screen sensitivity issue does appear to be fixed for me as well. It didn't appear to be quite the issue iPhone users were experiencing, but it was certainly there, and it certainly not now. So score 1 back for Apple! Hopefully, they can get a fix in here and another there and I can upgrade my iPhone 5 with 7.1. I'm still running 6.1.4 on it because of braille issues that continue to persist.

#9 voiceOver heading issue

thanks Scott I called to apple accessibility team about the voiceOver volume presented on the iPhone 5S and they say who it will take a time to release the update iOS 7.1 thanks again.

#10 One more issue

I have noticed with apps like MBraille and Fleksy that the messages still don't always get sent. I thought this was supposed to fix that problem. Hmmm.

#11 The solved and the not solved...

Member of the AppleVis Editorial Team

Hello sockhopsinger, Remember that iOS 7.0.3 is a minor update. What is mentioned above in the Release Note is all that were resolved. Though, I am really grateful that the Touch Sensitivity issue has been resolved. I am just giddy with the update. The mention of the Lock Screen being said twice has unfortunetly, has not been resolved. This has been around since the original release of the iOS 7.0. It was also present in the iOS 7 Beta. The issue you have also mention of other issues. Well, those are still present. So we can't expect to much in a minor update. So what you read in the Release Note is all you get for now. When the official release of the iOS 7.1 comes out. This should have some significant VoiceOver improvements along with many other bugs that have been annoying us since iOS 7.0. So hang in there. Plus, so far we have not seen any other bugs that has surfaced from this particular release. However, if anyone think they have found something. Please do let us know. We like to hear of them. As always. Please be sure to contact the Apple Accessibility Team of any existing bugs to them. The more people report these problems. The higher of the likelyhood they may get this resolved in the upcoming iOS 7.1. HTH

#12 Close Folder Sound

I can confirm that my iPhone 5 running iOS 7.03 doesn't make a sound when I close a folder. Also, it's strange because I never had the issue with VO repeating Screen Locked before, that's a new one as of the update today, at least for me anyway.

#13 props to apple

yes the screne sencitivity bug is fixed. however, i saw reports that it just wasn't a voice over thing. we saw it the most because of the way we had to interact with our devices. so, this is not just on the accessibility team. but a great bug squash nevertheless

My optimism is being renewed… The news of this plus the keynote I watched earlier? Things are good. :-)

#15 Confirmation

Member of the AppleVis Editorial Team

Hello Brooke and Alex, You both had me wondering about this new revelation. So I went back to the iOS 7.0 and the iOS 7.0.2 to check on this "Close Folder Sound". Sure enough they were there in those two version. Now on my NEW iOS 7.0.3 it isn't there any more. So I can also confirm this NEW bug. Good catch! We definetly have to let the Apple Accessibility Team aware of the NEW bug. So don't hesitate to report this issue with them as well. Thanks for pointing this one out!

#16 Badges outside of folders??

Hello All, I know that this isn't mentioned above in the release notes, but I was just curious to know whether or not the badge app icons outside of folders issue was fixed in this minor update; or whether or not we will have to wait until ios 7.1 to get this put to bed?? Thank you for any insight. -Andrew-

#17 Badge app icons

From what I can tell, that one hasn't been fixed yet.

#18 question about comment 15

Hi. How did you get back to 7.0 and 7.0.1? Maybe apple is still signing 7.0.2 because 7.0.3 just came out today, but I don't think they would be signing 7.0.1 anymore. Are they?

Hello Jessica, A very good question! Well, to answer your question. I have several devices in my arsenal. It just so happened that one of those device was still on iOS 7.0 and the other is on the iOS 7.02 that I hadn't updated. So with luck that I hadn't updated those devices yet. I just merely tried in what was revealed by Alex and Brooke. ;) HTH

#20 As far as I can tell pretty

As far as I can tell pretty much most other VoiceOver bugs are still present that we noticed in the initial ios7 release. For example the issue with password clicks and Bluetooth keyboards, and also the problem for me where VoiceOver says messag when I type the first character of a message in the messages app. It seems clear to me that apple don't actually run VoiceOver in house for any length of time as if they did surely for example the folder closing sound issue would have been noticed. I reported the close folder sound problem to apple, but other people might want to do the same as well as I had a bit of a rant at apple about there bug fixing record and seeming lac of testing so other people might want to mention it as well to reinforce the point.

#21 Hi again, just thought all of

Hi again, just thought all of you might want to know VoiceOver distortion issues are still present when you put the volume up slightly at least for me on the 5s, and also the VoiceOver volume setting on the rotor is still stuck, guess it looks like we have to continue complaining to apple.

#22 ios update

On the whole, I'm impressed with this update, but so far, I'm still unable to activate IMessage and Facetime using my phone number. So, I'm not sure that bug actually got fixed. Would it benefit me in any way to contact my carrier about this issue? Apple said I'd have to restore the phone, but as a newbie, I'm reluctant to do something so drastic for such a minor problem, especially since I had to go to my carrier and have them manually input network settings. In any case, I'm very happy that the overly sensitive touch screen bug has been fixed.

#23 7.0.3

Hi Alex, In relation to the distortion bug, this is not something you can fix on your own. It is definitely something to do with the speaker on the 5S and 5C. I did not talk to apple about this, I really think that it is just the speaker. Just, Don't turn the volume up all the way, and the distortion should stop becoming a problem.

#24 unconfirmed fix

I have the 4s, and I answered the phone yesterday and it was not on speaker! Because I've only gotten one incoming call since I updated which is where I was having the issue I can't make a confirmation that this bug is fixed or not.

#25 question about comment 21

What do you mean the vo volume on the rotor is stuck? Do you mean you can not use the rotor to change vo volume in iOS 7?

#26 questions about comment 20

What are the bluetooth keyboard and password click bugs? I have not heard of these 2 either. However, I have heard of lots of iOS 7 bugs, which is one of the reasons I am still on 6.1.3.

#27 Hi, what I mean by the volume

Hi, what I mean by the volume on the rotor is stuck is that if you use the rotor to change the VoiceOver volume independent of the main volume you can't increase the setting on the rotor above 35 percent for some people, above 60 percent for others, in my case its 35 percent. The Bluetooth keyboard issue is that if your typing a password in using this method if you press a letter twice quickly or any two letters you hear a click sound for the first letter, but not for the second, the presses have to be right after each other, s if you wait a second or so you hear clicks as normal. This issue certainly wasn't present before ios7. I thought this issue was Bluetooth keyboard specific but now i'm not sure, i'm wondering if this issue affects the on screen keyboard as well, I think it might but i'm not sure from my tests, perhaps other people might be able to help check this?

#28 keybord and passwords

About the on screen keybord, I'm running a 4s and I'm not noticing this issue when typing in a password.

#29 OK good to know so the issue

OK good to know so the issue is possibly Bluetooth keyboard only then as I do know of other people having the password issue when typing in with a Bluetooth keyboard. You still get all the characters go through when typing on the Bluetooth keyboard just the click sound doesn't play if you type a second character two quickly which is a little unnerving as its just nice to have the reassurance of the sound after every key press.

#30 answer regarding about vo lolume rotor bugs.

Hi Jessica and Alex Thanks alex to xplaind to Jessica about the voiceOver volume using rotor feature stuck. just to clarify who this voiceOver bugs only are presented on iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C and as well dont apply for all rest of iOs devices and it is presented since iOS7 came out. if you have using other iOS device iPhone 4, 4S, 5 iPad iPod touch running on iOS7 or newer you will not have this issues mentions above. and as I said nothing to do with Hardware issue this is software issue on the new iPhone devices.
