Following Syntellia's recent announcement that it would be making it’s Fleksy predictive touch keyboard available to other developers to incorporate in their own iOS apps, the first 4 apps to take advantage of this have now hit the App Store.
BlindSquare, Launch Center Pro, GV Connect - Call & SMS client for Google Voice and Wordbox - Simple Beautiful Text Editor have all been updated in the past few days to now offer Fleksy as an alternative to the default iOS keyboard.
Of these, it is likely that BlindSquare is the one that most of us will be familiar with, as it has a strong following on this site. However, like Launch Center Pro, it is difficult to see what the immediate benefit to users will be. Neither of these apps require significant amounts of text input. In the case of BlindSquare, where you deal primarily with place and business names, Fleksy’s predictive technology might actually be cause for more pain than gain.
Wordbox, however, is a text editor, so the potential benefits of the Fleksy keyboard are more obvious. Unfortunately, reports suggest that the current version of this $4.99 app is not particularly accessible with VoiceOver. The developer has, however, been making some positive noises on Twitter over the past 24 hours which suggest that they will look at correcting this. If you would like to see this happen, be sure to let them know by email or on Twitter (@Wordbox).
If you’ve tried Fleksy with any of these 4 apps, we would love to hear your thoughts. It would also be interesting to hear which apps you would most like to add support for the Fleksy keyboard.
