Welcome to the June 2026 installment of AnonyMouse's App Pick of the Month, where each month I highlight a new or noteworthy app. This month's pick is zEdit, a free and accessible video and audio editing app for iPhone. Raise your hand if you have ever wanted an easier way to edit that audio or video project of yours. Finally, there is a really great editor for the VoiceOver community in a space that has been difficult for far too long.
The thing that stands out most to me is how accessible zEdit actually is. I have dealt with apps and software, and sometimes a combination of software, just to get the result I wanted, but with zEdit it can all be done in one app for those quick and easy edits. I love that it can convert audio to video as well, which opens up a lot of possibilities for projects that mix the two.
zEdit handles the core editing tasks well: trimming and cutting video or audio, merging multiple clips together, deleting and reordering sections, adjusting or muting sound, and extracting audio straight out of a video file. For exporting, you get to choose the balance between file size and quality, and sharing your finished project to other apps is straightforward.
zEdit definitely has potential for growth. There is room for more features and tools, and I hope to see continued updates down the road. But even in its current state, it is a great option for anyone seeking a basic, accessible video and audio editor to help with those projects of yours.
on top of all that, zEdit is free. It is hard to argue with a price tag like that for a tool this useful.
Why I'm Picking zEdit This Month
I am picking zEdit this month because it fills a real gap for the VoiceOver community in a category that has historically been frustrating to navigate. The fact that it is free, easy to use, and built with accessibility in mind from the start makes it an easy recommendation, even with more features still to come.
