Description of App

Noticing that the audio balance for your headphones is going slightly to the left or right? Balance Lock was designed to solve this by keeping the audio centred either in the middle or to a custom lock point. No more annoying left/right audio drift!

It runs unintrusively in the background, monitoring the audio levels to ensure that when plugging and unplugging headphones, the audio stays centered. It even has special support for USB audio devices so ensure all types of headphones are supported.

Accessibility Comments

This app is very simple and completely accessible. It sits in the menu bar, from where you can bring up a preferences window that lets you set what balance to lock the audio as well as whether the app should launch at startup and notify you if it had to correct the audio. All of this is labeled and works well with VO.

Usability

The app is fully accessible with VoiceOver and is easy to navigate and use.

Other Comments

It's pretty sad that someone had to develop an app to fix a Mac OS bug that, according to my Googling, has been around since at least Tiger if not earlier, but here we are. Fortunately, it does what it's supposed to and makes sure your audio balance doesn't drift out of the center.
