Accessibility Comments

This game was written by a blind person, so there are no accessibility problems. It will come up using your default system voice but you can change it to use VoiceOver for speech in the main menu.

The app is fully accessible with VoiceOver and is easy to navigate and use.

Other Comments

As the game is not signed the first time you try to run it you'll most likely get a warning saying the app is from an unidentified developer. TO get around this, bring up the menu for the application in finder, choose "open", and then click open in the dialog that comes up. You should only have to do this once.

This game is really easy to play. If you have ever owned a bop it, or played any of the bop it style games on iOS like smack me, zany touch or the one from Kid Friendly Software, the concept is very similar. You will hear a sound and have to press the correct key. The reason this game stands out is that you want to do this in rhythm to the music. If you do this well you'll get more coins which you can use to purchase additional soundpacks or minigames. Anyone can make a soundpack for the game so as a result there's now over 300 different ones you can play ranging from old and new pop, world music from different countries, soundtracks to various movies and video games as well as packs that emulate the old bop it or other handheld reaction games

I most certainly recommend this game! Go get it and have some fun. A word of warning. Their are some sound packs that are for adults and have some strong language. Headphones are advised for some of those.

I second the above comments. I'm glad to see this game has made it to Mac. I have a lot of Oriel's games on my Windows machine, including the prior version of Beatstar and it would be awesome if more of these games were developed for the Mac platform in the future.

Thanks for the link. I'm still getting a 404 page not found on both the developer web site link and the direct link. Perhaps the site is being migrated to the new server in stages. I'll keep trying.

It kind of reminds me of Aurifi. (Remember Aurifi?) or Metris. I love these kinds of music games. There are lots of World Music packs, and I love world music. True to form for me, the only one I've unlocked is the Balkan music one. LOL I'm an addict. LOL

Hi Peter
Can you please include a download link for the windows version? I have a Windows computer that I would like to get the game on. When I go to the site on the laptop, it says page could not be found. Also, any idea when the site will be back up?

I got it running on my Mac today and can't stop playing!!

I've noticed, with several of the sound packs, that the music is so loud it's almost impossible to hear the sounds needed to know which keys to press. Other than that issue, I'm loving this game and seem to be addicted!!

This is the best Mac game I have played. It's the most comprehensive, with the widest range of content I have ever seen. It's amazing.

Is that game free I just got a Mac and I’m needing some help getting it

Submitted by garnit on Wednesday, August 21, 2019

Yes, the game is free. Add comment number four on the forum, there’s a direct download link. If you go on on your computer and click on the link, I think it either takes you to a website or it might even start directly downloading the game. If that happens, the game should show up in your download files, or possibly desktop, and you can just open it and then tab to the application. Sorry that wasn’t very specific, I haven’t downloaded this in a while. Let me know if you need anymore help

Hi there. I’m an avid fan of this game, but I’m running Mac OS Catalina. I just had my computer fixed so I haven’t played in a while, but when I try to open it, it says the developer can’t be found and just crashes to where I can’t even open it in the security preferences. So if the developer of this game is on here, please get back to me as soon as you can

I just tested Beatstar on my Mac and all is working under Catalina. The game was updated a couple of months ago. Are you running the latest version of the game?
