Description of App

Unmute lets your phone talk for you, on the phone!

With Text-To-Speech you can program sentences you want your phone to speak out loud. Also over the phone!

This can be helpful for people who are mute (can’t / don’t talk) or if you have other speech impediments.

The user on the other side of the line will hear the sentences spoken out loud by your phone through the call.

Features:
- Create your own custom sentences
- Favorite sentences are grouped together for easy use
- Change the gender of the voice
- Works in lots of languages

Accessibility Comments

Completely VoiceOver compatible. To use you make a phone call as you usually would using the native IOS phone app. Then you switch over to the Umnute app. However, since you are making a phone call, that activates the microphone, whenever the microphone is activated, that makes VoiceOver more quiet than usual. One way to make VoiceOver louder when when the microphone is activated is to turn the VoiceOver volume up in the rotor. If you don't have the volume option in your rotor, add it in the VoiceOver settings under the rotor option. In the Unmute app, they already have common phrases you can use or you can make your own phrases or sentences and use them. I did try this app out and it worked. I am not mute or have any particular reason to use this app but, I wanted to try it out to see if it worked so I could make a proper app entry for Unmute, in case this app could be useful to someone who sees this entry or to someone that sees this app entry. and who knows someone who could benefit from it.

VoiceOver Performance

VoiceOver reads all page elements.

Button Labeling

All buttons are clearly labeled.

Usability

The app is fully accessible with VoiceOver and is easy to navigate and use.

Other Comments

A very cool idea for a app.

I can speak, however there have been times where i have lost my voice due to surgery or mouth trouble etc. This would have been nice for short conversations at that time.

How do you use this properly?

Do you just have to be on speakerphone and have your microphone muted or is there any particular steps for using this application?

This is how I used it, if someone has a better or different way, feel free to chime in, 1. download unmute app and if you want to be fast and efficient, using a keyboard is highly recommended 2.Call someone, whether that's using the native phone IOS app, asking Siri or even using a Siri shortcut touch gesture, then open or switch to the Unmute app, 3. tap on the bottom right corner of your phone or if using a keyboard press control down arrow and the focus of voiceover should be on the fourth tab, which is the settings tab of the Unmute app, 4. flick or arrow over to the second tab which is the "phone" tab, 6, find the edit box which says 'type what you want to say" it is near the top, after you are done typing out what you want to say, press enter if you are using a keyboard or flick to bottom right and double tap on return and a text to speech will say what you typed out, keep repeating until your conversation is done. , also, before you make a phone call to someone, you can go into the Unmute app and create sentences and save them or favourite them so they are ready to be played whenever you are on a phone call.

Oh, and by the way, Having the phone on speaker phone is ideal when using a keyboard. Also, I don't know if this works but, if your settings are not set for speaker phone and you don't want them to be, I heard you can ask Siri, and say, call Insert name on speaker phone, and Siri will do that. I haven't tried it out before so I don't know if it works.
