Description of App

UK Radio in one place. All the BBC services, and hundreds of commercial stations, in the simplest radio app on the planet.

Flick through our stations and see what's on, with a quick tap of your finger. Search for your favourites, and set them as presets. Discover new things to listen to, in our 'Recommended' section.

Listen live, or browse our catch-up programmes. We've got everything from news and sport - to pop, rock, indie, dance, jazz, soul, and classical.

UK Radioplayer Ltd is a not-for-profit company, aimed at making radio listening easier. We're backed by the BBC (owners of stations like Radio 1, Radio 1Xtra, Radio 2, Radio 3, Radio 4, Radio 4 Extra, Radio 5 live, 5 live Sports Extra, Asian Network, and Radio 6 Music).

Our partners also include Absolute Radio (who run Absolute Radio 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s and Classic Rock), Global Radio (owners of stations like Heart, Capital, Gold, LBC, XFM, Chill, Choice and Classic FM), and the people from Smooth Radio and Real Radio.

Other stations in Radioplayer include talkSPORT, Kiss, Magic, Kerrang, Jazz FM, Fun Kids, Ministry of Sound, Free radio, Gaydar, NME Radio, Radio Caroline, and Radio Jackie. We also feature community and student stations – so there's something for everyone.

Accessibility Comments

Not really accessible, many buttons unlabeled.

VoiceOver Performance

VoiceOver reads all page elements.

Button Labeling

Few buttons are clearly labeled.

There are some accessibility issues with this app, but it can still be used if you are willing to tolerate these issues and learn how to work around them.

Other Comments

You could probably take the time, and label the unlabeled buttons with VoiceOver's labeling tool, but I didn't think it was worth it, since there are other apps that do this very well.

I like the app, as one thing it does which allot of other apps don't seem to is play past radio shows easily and also play the live stream. For example I can listen to past shows fairly easily with the iPlayer radio app but not live stations, plus you have to fight with that virtual dial and I also find other annoying issues with the app. One thing I haven't worked out with this app is how to move forward in a program while playing, I can't find any form of seek bar or slider, I will send the developers an email and see what they say.
