BitLife - Life Simulator

Hi everyone. I recently got a new tip for helping with reading the screen from my husband, who is now also playing, and as it is helping me I thought I would pass it on here as I haven't seen it in previous posts. Maybe some of you are already using this simple trick but I sure hadn't even thought of it.

The problem I've been having is that even if I touch the screen in the right place to bring the last few lines of text into focus, flicking down with two fingers will often make the whole thing jump back to the start, it's mega frustrating, because if I can't read what's happening, particularly at the start of each new year, I miss out on so much.

So here's what I was advised to do. Use the read lines function on the rota. I bet most of you have it enabled, I didn't. In case you want to enable it, go into your settings, double tap on general, then accessibility, then voiceover, then rota, you'll see a whole list of things there, some of which will say selected and some won't. When you see lines double tap it and it will then say Selected.

When playing the game, touching over to the right of the screen should put you in the body of the text, near the end. It takes practice to find the right place but you get to know where it is after a while. Some say it's above the Bitlife community button, I actually don't find that true because it sometimes jumps about. Anyway, once you're in text, if you have your roter turned to lines you can gently swipe down to read line by line. It's a bit slower but I've been doing it this way for a couple of hours now and haven't had it flick back to the top once, such a relief.

Sorry if all this is a bit long-winded, I just wanted to be sure I was being clear for newer iPhone users. Hope someone finds it as helpful as I have.

I slide my fingers up just a little bit and I could find the last few thing much easier than having to listen to the whole life story. But I will try that trick also.

They just released an update and added some new activities. Also a lot of those annoying overlays were fixed, and the relationships screen is a lot easier to navigate. I may not even finish my life that I have now because I just want to update and start over hearing all the nice things they put in. One thing I would like to se and if anyone has twitter because I don't use it no more they could suggest this to the devs. I think that if someone has a house and car there should be yearly expenses towards groceries depending on the size of the family, utility bills and if not paid, have them cut it off until they could pay it and then pay a reconnection fee again. Also there should be a cost to have kids like how it is in real life. And a few activities I would like to see in the future is to go to bingo at the age of 50 and up or any age really, go to the mall and the dentist. For the relationships I think they should have more things to do with your husband or wife instead of one thing. So hoping for some of those things in the future.

Has anyone of you managed to win the lottery?
This game still really rocks. I love it and I love the thing with the next update containing pets.
I have four ribbons. There are many more to find. Just finished a life earlier today and got a new ribbon. I have had many unlucky characters.

I won the lottery once. I've gotten 8 ribbons, I wonder what the others are

I won the lottery twice one was 35 million and the other was 6 million. I have 20 ribbons so far. If you go to achievements they will tell you what you need to do to get which specific ribbon.

I want to commit crimes. Are there any accessible ons? I am going to try to play a bad character.

I should have asked about that earlier because I kind of screwed up. lol. Now I am going to play Sushanti Bellsprout and she is going to be really bad. Yeehaw!

I just asaulted lots of people and comitted lots of crimes but apparently I cannot get expelled. Well, I had to drop out of school but I did not get expelled.

What is the haunt the game thing after death?

I'm not sure if the haunt the game button does anything, I pressed it before but it wasn't really that different, but it's kind of funny

Okay, I did the most epic fail EVER. I had all of my stats at 100 percent and then suddenly I had the idea to do a surgery. I chose the facelift. The problem was that the one doing it failed and my health went down to ten percent, my happiness to 0 and my looks to 13 percent.
At least I am still smart. Got to think better next time. I have seven ribbons.

Yeah I've tried the facelift a few times just to see what would happen but it's only been successful once. I have 9 ribbons but that's only because I found out what one of them was

How in the world do I manage to get in debt all the time? I have no idea and don't know how to get out of that. The job I have isn't at all sufficient.

I am not sure if something changed in one of the updates recently in regards to expenditures or what, but I can't seem to get a positive annual income, either.

I remember my very first life, before the icons were updtaed to actually have text labels, I was able to get over a million by the end of her life and she only stopped gaining each year after she retired.

My current life is in Israel and she has a very well paying job that gets her like $120,000 a year. Yet even then she is losing a couple thousand a year. The only reason she is not in the negatives right now, I am guessing, is that her mother left her a sizeable amount of money when she died.

I am not sure if something may be broken or what.

I do know that where your person lives likely plays a role in how much they make, as I know they take into account different costs of living in different countries, etc. Maybe that is it, though I would think having an income of $120k a year would be sufficient to have her gain some money. (Her husband, as well, is some sort of engineer and should be making ag ood amount, as well - not sure if maybe it is not accounting for spousal income?)

I'm going to wait to see if anything changes once one of her kids moves out - she has like 6 kids, so maybe that is why she is losing so much money.

You can get in a lot of debt from student loans. Also in the last update they tried to make expenses more realistic, like for having a house and having kids and things like that.

It depends how that log thing is coded as to how hard it'd be to fix.

Has anyone sent an email tot he Dev recently regarding outstanding accsesibility fixes? I'm most interested in the different relationship bar levels having text equivalents and being able to tell how smart/attractive, etc., your kids/husband are.

Regarding the dialogs - yes, they dos till have some focus issues. But if you reorient the focus by touching the screen to place your focus in the new dialog, you then can flick normally. But it does seem up in the air as to where my focus initially ends up.

With expenses ... my expenses did end up finally going into the positives once all my character's kids moved out. I also made al ot of money by selling her initially huge house (5 bed, 5 bath) that she had bought with her inheritance from her mother for at least 2x the price she paid for it. Then I bought smaller 2 bed/2 bath townhouse/bungalow as their 'retirement' house.

Currently have over 1.2 million now and the character is only 60. Should maybe retire in a few years.

The update has been released yesterday. Everything with pets is accessible, except for their relationship bars the health bar and the craziness of the animals are not read aloud. This is similar to how the relationship bar with humans is not actually read. It will just say relationship, or looks, or craziness but it won’t actually tell you the percentage of Health, looks or craziness.

Yeah - I saw the update this morning and my new life has a pet poodle named Peachy.

I may go ahead and email the Devs about the relationship bars not being read out - maybe it fell throug the cracks or it's a case where everyone else thinks someone sent the Devs something about this but then no one did. lol.

Love the update. My wife, who ironically is named Sasha Stride, does not like my snake. I thought she was adorable until she killed me.

I contacted the developer using the send feedback button. Hopefully it actually sent. I hope they fix the relationship bars and all the other ones too.

Has anyone been able to get ribbons like cat lady and family guy, even though the relationship bars aaren't accessible?

I don't think the relationship bars are needed to get those achievements but am not sure. Will experiment with thaat.

a huge update is coming which will include continuing as your child after you die. Not sure how that’s going to work, but we will see when it comes out. The update should be out in the days ahead.
Since a lot of people have been telling them to fix the accessibility of the bars, hopefully they fix them in this update.

Here is what the haunt this game button does :
It basically erases your life from existence. So if you had a bad life and you want to forget about it, you can press that button and it will not appear in your cemetery. you use the cemetery section of the app to look at your past lives and see how many ribbons you have.

The update that lets you continue as your child is out. You can also reorganize your cemetery and see what ribbons you have unlocked and which ones you have left. The relationship interface has been improved a little, for example when you spend time with people the message of what you did doesn't show up in a random place in the middle, it's at the bottom, but the bars with your relationship stats are still not accessible.

I probably won't delete mine, but I've definitely been playing it a lot less lately. When they fixed all the unlabeled buttons it really seemed like they cared about accessibility, but not being able to read the relationship bars makes the game harder to play.

Tweet at them to put percentage is next to all of the bars so that we can know all that information. They did say that a popular request will be added. If enough people tweet at them to put percentages next to the bars, they will most likely do it.
If we want accessibility, we can’t be sitting here and hope somebody asks them. We have to do it ourselves. All of us!

In order to be noticed, we also need to let the developers know that we exist and that we play the game. If we become the community then they will have no choice but to acknowledge we exist.

I am definittely not deleting the game because I play it every day. Yes, the relationship thing is annoying, but I don't find it important at all because I can play the game just fine. / ended up with a sixty year old character without children but came pretty far anyway. Though the bars may be disappointing I will hold on to this game. I had the shortest one ever with my character Aisha who died after four years because of illness. Really strange character. I tend to get lots of pets. I love them. Though I have learned to avoid yelling at the big ones like the tigers because if you do, you'd better watch out. I have died that way thrice.

Is there a special spot to get exotic pets? I swear I've only ever seen the link to adopt a pet or buy a purebred cat/dog. I kept buying Sphynx cats because it amused me to have the hairless ones. Though it seems there are only like 4 differnet breeds available, which is kind of disappointing.

I think that is opened when you reach the age of 18. I will keep it but I hardly play now because I find the pets kind of boring.

you have to purchase the bitizenship. After you purchase it, you have access to the exotic pets like tigers and lions and pets like that. I bought the bitizenship after they fixed the unlabeled buttons.

I personally would like to see the ge log change. It's a little tideous having to scroll down by line to find my latest age/action and how I should proceed. I think they should make it abutton where you can open a separate window with the log sorted from latest to earliest.

I totally agree about the age log, but I doubt they'll do that because it probably looks really good visually. It's frustrating but it's a lot easier if you just navigate it by line.

Yay just had three identicals. I have lots of characters in my cementary. I love the generation thing but will make sure not to give debt to the child I want to try but if I have lots of money I give it to one child and the others will be jealous.e

finally, after many people tweeting at BitLife to fix the relationship bars, they have finally taken a look and should be fixing them in the next update.

I follow them on Twitter but I did not see where they mentioned fixing anything related to accessibility. I also told them about the minigames that are not accessible.

What happened was that bitlife tweeted something and then somebody replied saying that the relationship bars were not accessible with voiceover. Then bitlife replied to them saying that they would look into it and will try to fix it.

Yay! Really great news. Then I will be able to see the relationships of people I keep insulting just for funk Be careful with that because last time I was very weak and I insulted my brother and he asaulted me and I died. I had no children because I was very young and I had about five million. :-)e

I like some of the tings they put in like being famous and all of that but the viewing of the relationships status hasn't been made accessible as yet. So you can't tell the looks or enjoyments of others.
