AppleVis is proud to have a dedicated team of Regular Content Contributors and Guest Bloggers who are passionate about Apple products and accessibility. Their expertise and experience allow them to write informative and engaging articles for our community, which includes end users, app developers, accessibility advocates, Assistive Technology experts, and blind and low vision agencies worldwide.
The main focus of the AppleVis Blog is to provide:
- News about new or updated products and services that are relevant to the AppleVis community.
- Personal perspectives and experiences of using Apple products, third-party applications, and related accessories as a blind or low vision user.
- Promotion of good practices in accessible development on the macOS, iOS, iPadOS, watchOS, and tvOS platforms.
To join the AppleVis Blog Team, individuals must have:
- Prior experience in writing online content.
- The ability to produce well-written and high-quality original articles.
- A good understanding of the topics they submit for publication.
- The ability to identify and research relevant topics for the AppleVis community.
- The ability to provoke thought and discussion in opinion-based articles.
- The ability to research and verify the information in factual articles.
- As a Regular Content Contributor, it is expected that team members will have at least one article accepted for publication per month. Guest Bloggers should have 3-4 articles accepted for publication per year.
Beyond this, there are some additional requirements for posts:
- The topic must fall within the scope of those covered by AppleVis, specifically focusing on news and updates on Apple products and services, commentary on the experiences of blind or low vision users, and promoting accessible development on various platforms.
- The focus of articles should be on providing engaging and informative content for the reader. Posts can be objective, presenting facts and news, or subjective, offering commentary and personal experiences.
- All articles must be original and cannot be republished, as this can negatively impact search engine rankings.
- Posts must be written in standard English with proper grammar and spelling usage. Poorly written articles will not be accepted for publication.
- Any information sourced from external sources must be properly cited, including a link to the original article.
- As a general guideline, posts should be between 500 and 2,000 words in length.
- Contributors are expected to respond to comments left on their posts.
- Posts should not contain any promotional content or affiliate links. Only sources and links that enhance the article will be permitted.
- All articles will be reviewed by editors prior to posting, unless other arrangements have been made.
- The team reserves the right to edit submissions for brevity, grammar, and readability.
Our more general guidelines for posting content to AppleVis also apply.
As a non-commercial website operated by volunteers, the Regular Content Contributor and Guest Blogger positions at AppleVis are unpaid opportunities. However, these positions provide writers with the chance to inform and engage with a dedicated and passionate community, allowing them to develop and enhance their portfolio.
While the requirements for these positions may be demanding and comparable to those of paid writing opportunities, the AppleVis Blog holds a respected reputation within its field. It is important to us to recruit individuals who can help maintain and enhance this reputation, not only for the benefit of AppleVis and our community, but also to ensure that those who participate will gain valuable experience and fulfillment from their involvement.
