MyWay Lite
Description of App
By Swiss Federation of the Blind
from iTunes store:
GPS orientation aid which provides distance and directional information to a selected point of interest.
Such a point can be an address from your address book or a point of a self-defined route.
The non-free version of MyWay also allows file exchange via the iTunes filesharing option.
There, you can also import files containing nodes in Open Street Map format giving access to hundreds of POI in the proximity such as bus stops or restaurants.
Thanks to VoiceOver, visually impaired and blind people have unlimited access to this app. We recommend to turn on speaking of VoiceOver hints.

Works great; I was looking for a way to navigate cross-country over the unshoveled suburban tundra here and wanted something very simple. I have not yet figured out what all the vibrating is for exactly, but it's cheery. I could go for some more detailed documentation, but even without that, I think this one is a winner.

I especially like that it gives distance to your target and direction via face-of-the-clock. Really nice. Careful:the paid version is $19.99 as of Jan 2012!

I tried the app today and found it very useful for locating self created POI's. I updates frequently with distance in feet, meters or yards from the POI. I think it could be very helpful for finding locations in unmapped areas. Works well with Voice Over.
